Murtha appears to be loved, or at least very tolerated, by the “good people” of his Pennsylvania district. It’s almost like either he can do no wrong, or even if he does all kinds of wrong, few citizens care.
Am I mistaken?
I understand your sentiments, but where is the evidence that Murtha is anything other than overwhelmingly acceptable to these people?

As an "outsider" volunteer I had the opportunity to talk to business owners, blue collar workers, white collar workers and those in between. When folks are rushing into the "Boot Murtha" rally in disguise saying they could not afford to be seen, while telling you about the look-outs that are posted around the block, you know there is more to their "loyalty" than meets the eye. Locals in Johnstown told me they supported the "Boot Murtha" idea, but we should not expect to see a large local turnout as it was simply too risky for them to be seen at the rally.
IMPO, after hearing many like comments, terrorist like tactics are alive and well in the 12th district. No, they may not be blowing things up, but fear and intimidation are being employed in a big way! Folks would talk to me, but in hushed whispers when there was no one around. Union thugs would stand and stare at us for long periods, waiting for us to cower in fear.
One lady, with a son about to be deployed, knew al-murthawi was scum, but was 100% convinced that her husband would lose his job if the scum ball lost the election. She contacted me a couple months after the election about her son and indicated that she had voted, but left the congresscritter box blank.

My volunteer history has seen so many good women candidates not get good backing and $. The issue with Murtha is so important I wish it would be his LAST term.

That’s good that Lt.Col. Russell is on the R ballot...He may have to wage an unconventional campaign to beat Murtha given the heavy union and democratic vote...If he can bring jobs and defense spending to the Johnstown Pa area that would help a lot...and who better to win defense contracts than a military man who still supports the military, not some traitorous dog like Murtha...
Miracles do happen-remember Senator D’Amato of NY- brought a ton of pork to NY State, then lost to Chuck Schumer...There were other issues involved in that race,besides pork, but it was a shocker to many people..
