Those are reported crimes. Statistics rely on information. LA is likely not reporting crimes. Or, gangs don’t report crimes committed by other gangs.
Some people are willfully incapable of understanding statistics.
I was burglarized twice and carjacked in my driveway when I lived in Riverside. I did not report one burglary because of the police response time to burglary calls. The carjacking was reported as a domestic disturbance. I found out later the Riverside Sheriff's officer did not feel like doing all of the paperwork to report that the men had a gun and a knife. I got my car back so he did not even record it as auto theft. Some of them will write things up as whatever brings the least amount of paperwork. The only reason I found this out was that the officer who was the first responder to my burglary call had been the second responder to my carjacking call, and he told me what really happened.
Yes...and I saw a news bit on armored cars being manufactured in Mexico that stated: "Mexico City is the most dangerous city in the western hemisphere"...but when Mexicans jump the fence into the US they magically stop committing crimes..must be the water...(sarc.)
