How do these numbers stack up against the cable news shows that are on at the same time, like CNN, MSNBC, FOX and Headline News?...................

The CBS Evening News attracted an average of 5.39 million viewers last week, placing the newscast more than two million viewers behind the second-place World News with Charles Gibson on ABC (7.51 million). The NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams ranked No. 1 for the week with 8.17 million viewers.
Charlie-boy Gibson has been racking up the good points lately. First the debate, now helping eliminate his allies.

For many reasons, i find these half-hour news shows unwatchable.
I prefer the five-minute updates on radio for the headlines. trhen I can search the internet for more detail.
Just my preference.

Just my preference. According to the ratings, you're not alone.
By the end of this decade or shortly thereafter, television networks as we know them today will cease to exist. They will be just another url on the world wide web competing against millions of others.
Network evening newscasts will go dark after the '08 elections and their news divisions disbanded.

The CBS Evening News attracted an average of 5.39 million viewers last weekThats about 30 % below her nearest competitor. How in the freaking world she can still have a job is beyond me.

The whole purpose of bringing Couric on board, IMHO, was to facilitate a Demonrat (socialist) win this November...............Couric has not delivered as expected.........
She is abrasive, transparent and socialist (Demonrat)...........her problem is that she has a hard time hiding her socialism, unlike news anchors of the past and present (Dan Rather being one that also had a hard time glossing over "Demonrat")..........What's the frequency Kenneth Kennethia?
