How the world was misled about global warming and now climate change
Canada Free Press ^ | 4/21/08 | Tim Ball

Once you realize humans are not causing global warming and/or climate change, then you need an explanation for how and why so many people appear to think they are. In two previous articles (Environmental Extremism and Historical and philosophical context of the climate change debate.) we examined the philosophical and historical context of climate change and specifically the focus on humans as the cause.

We explained the philosophical concept of uniformitarianism that dominates western science; the incorrect idea that change is gradual over long periods of time. We looked at how the scientific method of testing the theory that human CO2 was causing warming/climate change was effectively bypassed. Now we need to examine how politics took over climate science through exploitation of public fear and lack of knowledge.

Oh my, A chart! Global Warming issue is settled now. ROTFLMAO! A chart! The Chart! Your Honor, I have a chart! Ah, Case Closed! This dude has the Mother of All Charts. It shows Water Vapor has the highest percentage in atmosphere. Case dismissed. Do not underestimate the power of The Chart. Its a bird, its a plane, its a Chart! LOL!

What are you laughing about? I posted a lot of links to very substantive scientific articles. You have nothing. Zero. You look like a fool.

My point is not weak. Why should I give you the respect you feel you deserve when your viewpoint is with the leftist radicals. Incomprehensible. I repeat, in this area you are dense.

>>OK, so answer the first one for yourself? What do you think would be the impact of ice caps melting? Lets see your answer.<<
Well, assuming the sun has not changed from it’s current cyclical state and the earth and it’s orbit has not changed:

If someone was to heat the ground under both caps to the point that they completely melted, there would be incredible flooding and a significantly greater water area on our planet. This would lead to MUCH greater precipitation and LOTS of snow on the caps.

And now a question for you:

What do you think would be the impact of a five foot meteor hitting your house? Let’s see your answer.

But more importantly, what part of your current resources (time, money, intellectual) should you spend on mitigating the risk?

Do you realize that if a catastrophic warming (massive geological upheaval) were to happen it would STILL take virtually as long as mankind has recorded history to melt the caps? And if that were the cause it would be a VERY GOOD thing for much of the planet. Not so good for Florida and Hawaii.

There are far more pressing and immediate issues to use our brains, time and money worrying about. This literally IS one of those “cross that bridge when we come to it” issues - and it is debatable that we are even headed for that particular bridge. In fact, it is looking more like we are headed away from it.

>>Are you able to read? It doesn’t say increase in CO2 is caused by Global Warming.<<

IT? What is this “it” you refer to? Let me say it loud. Let me say it proud: INCREASES IN CO2 ARE CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

>>Its CO2 blanket that prevents the heat from eascaping from the atmosphere.<<\

Um. No.

It’s water vapor that prevents the heat from escaping. CO2 has been proven to have little effect. I will say, though that increased CO2 definitely benefits our forests.

>>You want some heat to be trapped as we obviously don’t want to freeze, but trapping too much is obviously going to lead to some climate shift.<<

Yeah, technically that is true, just as too much water is going to drown me - but I still like walks in the rain and NEVER during one of those walks to I fear that God is in the process of flooding us.

“A life lived in fear is a life half lived.” The earth is a big HVAC system which was designed to handle MUCH MORE than it is currently doing. Let the building engineere worry about it when it is stressed. It aint close yet. Remove your fear. It is unwarranted. Worry about muslims. THAT is a clear an present danger.

>>Wait a minute. How can you argue with that, RobRoy?<<

;)

I’d move from Florida (if I lived there) and maybe enjoy some nice beach time in Jueau. I think the Sahara would be the breadbasket of the world. Well, maybe it would compete with central Austrailia and Siberia. :)

I'll stay where I am since it will probably bring the beach a mile closer to me. It will only be 1,082 miles and approx. a 16 hour and 3 minutes drive then. ;^)

Besides, the warming might extend the growing season enough to actually grow a decent garden here.

Now, if you could just figure out how to stay alive 1000 years to enjoy the reduced driving distance...

Wait--will people "drive" in 1000 years?
Perhaps you could adopt Edgar Cayce's astral projection techniques. ;-)

I found the answer, from a Funk and Wagnell's encyclopedia, that was kept in a sealed mayonnaise jar on the front porch.

I'll be dead then.

Oh, and people will be riding (not driving) Equimus. (prn. eck wih mooz)
Genetically engineered crosses between horses and emus. There will be no
arthritis and one Egg McMuffin will feed a family of four.

I was looking for what Hawking’s said found this:
“We don’t know where the global warming will stop,” he explains, “but the worst-case scenario is that Earth would become like its sister planet, Venus, with a temperature of 250 [degrees] centigrade, and raining sulfuric acid. The human race could not survive in those conditions.”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1878863/posts

Hawking’s is predicting the earth’s max temperature of 250 deg C. Lets take a look at the history of earth to see if this has happened before. We can go back about ½ billion years and see what earth has done:

Actually come to think of it we really don’t need to view this because we all know earth never was anything like Venus other then when it was formed. So what he is suggesting is an event that has never taken place.

There are two major event’s in Earth history that we know of one was Snowball earth about 850 to 650 million years ago the earth was covered in massive ice we speculate the earth’s average temperatures was that of Antarctica which is at around -40 deg C.

The second major event that we know of was the Triassic extinction event or great Dying which occurred about 250 million years ago. This event is much closer to what Hawking’s is suggesting. As you can see in the chart there was a huge methane/CO2 blimp and temperatures reached about 23 deg C which is about 8 deg C higher then today.

Lets go back to hawking worst case prediction of +250 deg C. That is 227 deg C higher then the great dying event that wiped out 95% of all marine life on earth.

If what he is suggesting is true which this has never happened in earth history. There is no way to stop this event from accruing thus we must leave the planet.

What was his time frame that he was talking about? In his world Billions of light years are like nano seconds.

I don't know but I can say this for a man made Venus effect to take place the earth’s average temperatures over this period of time can have fluctuations but it would have to continue to rise it can not drop.

LOL!

Funny graphic potlatch!

logarithm
proportion
strength

& many many more words misspelled on this thread!

If one is to lazy to click FR’s “Spellcheck” or unable to provide links to defute charts or global warming/climate change debunkers and expert scientists in the field then algore’s “no debate or questions are allowed.....” as “consensus proves.....” becomes Obama’s “no fair!” “no more debates!” “shut up or else!”

Add now best selling author/TV book pimp Newt Gingrich sitting with Nancy Pelosi - for dollars - turning into Jimmy Carter

Anyone want to buy some carbon offset credits so Obama’s Kenyan grandma won’t buy an energy hog mansion that consumes over $1,200 a month or buy and drive a 4WD SUV/limo gas guzzler like algore?
