Once you realize humans are not causing global warming and/or climate change, then you need an explanation for how and why so many people appear to think they are. In two previous articles (Environmental Extremism and Historical and philosophical context of the climate change debate.) we examined the philosophical and historical context of climate change and specifically the focus on humans as the cause.
We explained the philosophical concept of uniformitarianism that dominates western science; the incorrect idea that change is gradual over long periods of time. We looked at how the scientific method of testing the theory that human CO2 was causing warming/climate change was effectively bypassed. Now we need to examine how politics took over climate science through exploitation of public fear and lack of knowledge.

See the problem is that AlGor is the face of this issue. So I completely understand why any one on the right side of the spectrum would automatically be suspicious of the whole thing and simply cringe
If people fear that I want Algor agenda to be carried out, don’t let your heart be bothered. I support NO POLICY that shrinks my paycheck. NONE. Maybe if the President appealed that for War cost some sacrifice is needed, I would agree to it, but other than that, no SOB is taking my money.
Saying I fear the problem is real is NOT THE SAME as saying lets follow Algor.
Hope that helps clarify things. As for your infitessemal amounts, I don’t have enough data to argue for or against it. The chart you posted, doesn’t do it for me. I just know that whatever amount we were releasing before, we are increasing it LOGRATHIMICALLY. Before we all say it has NO IMPACT and its not real, we have to be sure. That’s all.
They ain’t “thinning” forests in amazon or Canada or Norway.....
I have your word that there is no problem? Great! Whew! For a second I was worried there. Which planet are you from?
“However, feelings about what they might do aren’t enough to commit trillions of dollars, restrict liberties, slow down industries, hamstring the world’s economies and give world regulatory bodies unprecedented control over the tiniest aspects of people’s lives.”
Oh - but they ARE enough, unless people get educated, which seems doubtful. From “Liberal Facism” by Jonah Goldberg (page 6):
“...to global warming, liberals insist we get beyond politics...The experts and scientists know what to do...the time for debate is over...”
If you have a glass of water, filled with ice cubes, does the water overflow when the ice cubes melt?
It really has nothing to do with Al Gore. It has to do with the issues being discussed. A quick check of your posting history shows you and I have been on opposite sides of plenty of arguments: You want to ban smoking. You supported minimum wage increases. You thought placing millions of acres in California under government ownership for "preservation" was a good thing. Should I go on?
This global warming thing just tells me that you either aren't conservative or that you don't see the implications of the solutions that are being proposed (freedom, global governance, wealth distribution.) Based on prior issues mentioned, I believe both may be true.
No, but if junk gets in water, it becomes undrinkable. Also, depends on the number of ice cubes doesn’t it? That is the key? Are we putting more “ice cubes” in than the glass can handle?
I asked three specific questions and the best you can offer is sarcasm?
In answer to yours, earth.
No keep on going because you were wrong on all those issues and I wasn’t. You don’t own me. No one died and put you in charge of defining what Conservative means. You are on losing sides of all those issues. You will continue to lose because you follow dogma and not reality.
Not the point, and I’m not talking about putting junk in the water. Pollution is a separate issue.
Put some water in the glass, oh, maybe two-thirds of the way. There’s your ocean. Then fill up the rest of the glass, below the rim, with ice cubes, or ice wedges, or even chips. There’s your ice caps and icebergs, if you want some.
Let it all melt. The glass will not overflow.
It’s simple physics - Displacement 101.
PS - the number of ice cubes represents the existing ice caps. impossible for it to be “too much,” since they’re already there, and our shores are intact. There’s your starting point.
Well, now you are saying melting ice caps won’t have any impact on sea-levels. Well, you are the first one EVER who I have ever seen make that claim. Most scientist calculate the amount of ice and increase in water level from the poles is expected to be 20 feet. If Greenland thaws, its another 20 feet. Other than your kitchen experiment, you have some more evidence where some respected scientist made that claim?
Everyone else here is arguing that ice-caps are NOT melting. I think if they thought that their melting would have NO impact, then their would have been no need to argue that they are not melting.

You dont own me. No one died and put you in charge of defining what Conservative means. You are on losing sides of all those issues.
If "winning" means we must jump on your bandwagon and cede our freedoms and rights, I prefer to lose while preparing for the next fight.
You will continue to lose because you follow dogma and not reality.
What "dogma" is that? If reality means accepting global socialism without a fight, sorry. You got the wrong gal.
No, you don't know that. You are making it up because that isn't true and there is no data to be found to show that.

Get a grip!
The History Channel is cute and interesting
But they also mix-in/run shows on cattle mutations (from a Coast To Coast dingbat woman guest!) and on UFO sightings and coverups (Art Bell is chuckling: “Wow!”) too - and “Stuff On Mars”!
Their alleged “documentaries” on “Amazon warriors” and other topics are loaded with comments like “This is what may have happened.....”
Wow! I’m convinced!
There are many on FR with plenty of gray matter
Some of my Viking ancestors managed to escape after the “Little Ice Age” had them bring their cattle and dogs had to be brought inside their crude dwellings
They were just too smart to not watch what the natives hunted, fished for, wore, how they built their homes, survived
Some of my ancestors ended up part of the frozen soil
Some made it to the East coast of North America and settled
Some went back to Norway
One ended up on the Isle of Skye and married a Danish knight’s daughter - the Isle of Skye was her dowry (Leod the Black)
You, however, appear to be often frozen in intolerant thoughts and comments and demanding others except your superior genius and wisdom
Referencing “Klintonian” about FReepers on FR is often the sign of a sleeper, troll, or worse
Even Einstein made errors - and is eclipsed somewhat in IQ (185) by many - some here on FR
But he admitted his mistakes
It really is getting warmer now
I call it “Spring”
When it is often nearly unbearable for many you may even encounter “Summer”
If you want to learn about the environment simply go to a large farm, ranch, timber area
Sitting in front of a PC or TV is not always quite close enough to reality
PS: I have a secret method of getting over 100mpg in a vehicle
But I sold to to GM some years back:
Go to the top of Mount Mitchell and put your vehicle in neutral
Release the brakes
-
Alternate energy sources:
What a goldmine for a clever person!
That’s why algore has interests in oil (Occidental Petroleum) - the Kennedys in fossil fuels (KENNOIL - now renamed and in Fiji) - and Jay Rockefeller lives on his ancestor’s Standard Oil profits -
Over 80% of energy in France is from nukes
Japan & Germany are into nukes bigtime too
Solar, biofool; wind power, cold fusion, hamsters on treadmills.....
That’s the ticket for the USA
Excuse me? No data? Like China bringing a Coal based plant EVERY WEEK online? Like 2.5 Billion Indians and Chinese now contributing pollution at same pace as us? Do you really believe that the pace is same as say 50 years ago?
