That is an assumption.
Anyway, legislating away religion is the antithesis of Christianity. As Christians, the core of our acceptance of our religion is our freedom to choose it. If we start legislating away other religions, we are removing the freedom to choose religion, and thus, it wouldn't be a real Christian nation, it would be a nation with the facade of Christianity based on no faith but on the necessity to put on airs as a legislative necessity.
