Hillary Clinton quit?
You'd have a better chance getting Bill Clinton to shut up.
But the argument for Clinton to pull the plug on her campaign is not hard to make.
She trails Barack Obama in all categories. There are only 10 contests left, and most look to be tough for Clinton.
In fact, many Democrats think her odds of winning are so slim that all she's doing is helping John McCain.
Some Democratic elders, including party Chairman Howard Dean, are getting edgy about the beating Obama and Clinton are inflicting on each other. Even Clinton stalwarts such as Rep. Barney Frank suggest the candidate who is trailing - Clinton - should bow out by early June.
"No! No!" moaned one Clinton backer at the prospect of a daily fight until the August convention. "It's so painful."
But that unappetizing path is the only one Clinton can still follow all the way to the White House - and the former First Lady isn't about to step off.
One uncommitted superdelegate told the Daily News that senior campaign officials have confided that Clinton has only a 20% chance of winning.
"That's generous," the delegate said. "It's more like 10."
And a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll said that Democrats, by 2 to 1, think Obama is the best candidate.
Still, about the only way Clinton would drop out soon, numerous insiders said, is if she loses Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary and runs out of money.
"That's the only path I see," said one who is confident Clinton will carry Pennsylvania but said money is looking grim for April.
But grim is not dead, and the Clinton campaign has hammered away at Obama lately, jumping all over remarks in which he called small-town Americans "bitter." And she pounded him for his connections to unsavory characters in last week's debate.
"She is going to the convention. There is no reason for her to get out," a devoted Clinton fund-raiser said.
Even with the clock running down, Clinton clings to this argument: If she can put a few wins together, along with an epic Obama stumble, superdelegates could find reason to back her - although more of them have been jumping Obama's way in recent months.
To her team, the fact that most polls have trended toward Obama lately doesn't matter, even with some women from her base defecting. They chalk it up to his financial advantage.
"Obama's been spending a lot of money," explained Ann Lewis, the head of Clinton's women's outreach efforts. "And for the first time, he's running ads that are meant for women."
And there are many Clinton supporters who would be downright angry if she quit.
"Her support, especially with women, would make it extremely hard for the walk-away scenario," said one inside observer.
A high-ranking Democrat who likely will have to referee the contest sees no chance Clinton will quit anytime soon.
"They both have a path, they think, to the nomination," he said. "Until one of them doesn't think they have a clear path to the nomination, you're not going to see anything like that."
Fine by me. The longer she stays in, the more dirt will come out on Hussein.
She’s figuring the Super Delegates will come to the conclusion he’s unelectable. If they do, will they do so in time?
If you watched only CNN(and most of the other DBM networks)... you’d think they were dead-even.
Especially when the contents of Baraks laptop are revealed.
"Hillary Clinton rallies the crowd in the rain as she campaigns in McKeesport, Pa., Saturday, April 19."
**********
This woman is campaigning relentlessly. She was in several PA towns speaking yesterday. I don't know where she gets the strength, and I don't see her quitting...
Hillary in West Lawn, PA Sat. April 19...
Hillary at West Chester Fire Department in West Chester, Pa., Saturday, April 19...
Candidates number of delegates
Barack Obama 1645
Hillary Clinton 1504
Only 141 delegates apart, You Go Girl! Obama’s chances of getting the nomination aren’t much better, and his chances of beating President McDole are worse, except McDole had stagnated, and only seems able to run against his own party. 2 losers return to the Senate.
Maybe Mr. and Mrs. Clinton know something about The Golden-Tongued Anointed One we don't. Maybe they will share that ONLY with the Superdelegates.
In re the debate: 10 round fight. Mrs. Clinton 5 rounds. BHO 2 Rounds, 3 Even. Split decision: Mrs. Clinton.
Something really fishy about this Obama thing.
"These thighs were made for runnin' and that's just what I'll do, one of these days these thighs will run right over you". Nancy Sinatra and the beast.
From Rush Limbaugh
she campaigns in McKeesport, Pa., Saturday, April 19.
Janet Reno should have been with her on that day -- just to emphasize how compassionate and competent a Clinton administration would be.
Clinton knows her chances are about nil. But the Clintons still think (in some deluded fashion) that the press is still on their side, or that they WILL be once they become the nominee.
As Slick Willy was said to have boasted during the impeachment process, “We're beating the odds.”
That's what Mrs. Stalin thinks she's going to do, because she thinks eventually the media will come around.
That they haven't, and that they chose McCain for us and are in the process of choosing Obama for the Dems, ought to shake the sleep out of anyone's eyes who thinks the MSM is dead. They are not. They are simply going through an adjustment phase as they learn how to compete with alternative media, such as the Internet and talk radio.
Its ok. Just remember, its always darkest just before its pitch black!
(That wasnt racist, was it?)
Except for the blood of Christ...but they don't believe in that. I pray that one day they will.
Come on Hillary...you can do it girl!
Could be true, but I won't be voting for her on Tues....
“Although Obamba has so far been absolutely (well not absolutely) bombroof, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton may be waiting for a nuke to fall on the guy and wipe him out. Maybe sex. Maybe drugs. Maybe Rev. Wright or equivalent. Maybe Islam. Maybe terrorist ties.”
The delightful thing is that, even if this happens, Obama’s supporters are going to be SO pissed off that they’ll either support McCain or stay home.
I’d be delighted we’re in a win-win situation until I remember we have John McCain as a candidate, so we’re screwed in the long run, no matter what.
