In a similar vein, I have yet to meet a WWII German vet who fought the Americans - they all fought the Russians.

As for Nixon, this Republican didn't vote for him because his aides spooked me - I could see the incipient swastika bands on their arms.

I knew a German WWII vet who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and I introduced him to a US vet who fought in the same engagement.

They were 16 and 19 respectively at the time of combat.

But your observation is generally true - a bit suspicious since the number of Germans who fought Americans and survived the early postwar period was probably much larger than the Eastern front ones.
