The Battle Hymn of the Republic ought to be this country’s National Anthem.

I still think "The Star Spangled Banner" should remain.

But the "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" is a far better second choice than the "America The Beautiful" that so many losers have proposed as a new anthem, not to mention the championing of "Lift Every Voice And Sing" as the "alternate" national anthem.

no dixie should.

A lyrically marginal sectional anthem, from the losing section no less, as the national anthem?

Pleasant tune, cute for reenactments, but let's be realistic.

Congratulations. You've just pissed off the entire FR Lost Cause, "The South Was Right" segment.

Actually Dixie was written by Daniel Decatur Emmett from Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

I’m not so sure of that.
I remember singing the Wilhousy arrangement in school chorus and it’s not the same.
ie. in the Wilhousy arrangement,
When the ladies are singing “He is tramping out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored”
the men are singing “Truth is marching, truth is marching....”

My favorite is the Wilhousy arrangement.

Check youtube for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version.
Pretty sure it’s Wilhousy’s.

DIXIE

Once upon a time bands had to play "Dixie" after inflicting "Battle Hymn of the Republic" upon their audiences...

Indeed. But it did not become the signature song of Ohio.
