DENVER -- A Colorado Springs woman was arrested on charges of false reporting to authorities and is being investigated for her alleged involvement in the call that tipped authorities off to possible abuse at a Texas polygamist compound.
Police said they arrested 33-year-old Rozita Swinton at her home on Wednesday.
The Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs Wednesday as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas. They left and have not filed any charges on Swinton, said Colorado Springs police spokesman Lt. Skip Arms.
Arms said he could not discuss any aspects of the Texas case. The affidavit for the Colorado Springs case has been sealed so details cannot be released, he said.
Call7 Investigators reported this is not be the first time Swinton has been arrested on charges of making false reports to authorities. According to KRDO, the charge against Swinton was made in connection to calls received by police in February indicating she was 13 years old and trapped in a basement.

Apparently, they have an on-site crematorium.
The only young men who are allowed to marry, indeed stay in the cult at all, are the sons of the dukes and lords
May I point out if the only ones that get to stay are the dukes and lords than all the boys are the sons of the dukes and lords there would be no others..
Every article I have read says that the call was placed with a battered women’s shelter, who forwarded the information to CPS. The women’s shelter probably did not record the number because these calls are confidential, and abuse victims are often frightened of repercussions if they get a call at home from an abuse center. Makes sense to me, and it has been reported this way in many previous threads, but I could, of course, be wrong.
My first thought ...maybe she is not the original person to report abuse but is a copycat
mere speculation of course
When all you have is a note made by a worker at the shelter on a pad, fairly hard.
That's right. That's the evidence they used to file all of those criminal charges before the government seized all of those children.
Oh wait...
OMG...You’re right...there’s been no talk about teenage boys...I’d like to know the actual numbers. It’s hard to believe this goes on in our modern country...and the same people here who stick up for this are the first to bash Islam for the way women are treated there.
I get your reference, but I'm thinking
Does it really matter if she gave a false statement, we have to get those rich racist white fratboys
I almost fell off my bed! Just goes to show if you stick around FR long enough, ANYTHING can happen!!! Back on issue, it's sort of weird that the people who are defending this cult are the very people who lament on the way the Muslim community treats women. There's not much difference..except Muslim women are allowed to leave their homes from time to time.
actually you can’t because if this DOES pan out then the woman’s false being an independent and sole performer in the fraud may actually save the case. PROVIDED the police did not induce her to call.
Proves up the good faith defense of the police.
This also eliminates the issue from a potential jury.
NOW the real question is whether anyone told the 416 lawyers in the custody case.
They were claiming last night that some of the teen age girls told the investigators that they knew the girl who made the call. I was wondering how that could be since she was anonymous and the accused never lived at the compound.
“he was just trying to discuss the evidence in a reasonable fashion.”
(something that you will find is not allowed here on FR, when it pertains to a thread of such emotional nature)
: )
“Bet ya a cup of coffee there is no “Sara”.”
I bet you think there has never been any abuse at the compound, and that Warren Jeffs and other men at the compound were never indicted, convicted, and sent to prison.
a) Employ some basic logic skills.
b) Understand basic legal definitions.
For example:
It is not my duty to provide such evidence. Americans are supposed to be assumed innocent.
Yes, but you are presuming guilt on the part of the government employees without any evidence. In other words, your charges ar "trumped up." The only difference between you and the people you are accusing is that you don't have the force of the legal system behind you.
And...
Search warrants are not supposed to be issued on hearsay.
Hearsay is when a person says that someone else told them about a crime. This was not the case. Like I said, if we're going to discuss legal matters, let's use the words for what they mean.
Private property must not be breached without a damn good reason, and that reason must be proven with some semblance of evidence before the fact.
So, it's your contention (still without evidence) that the police executed this warrant, found nothing wrong and trumped up charges against these people that will involve hard jail time? Does that really sound plausible to you?
Did the investigator go and arrest all the pregnant girls at the local high schools as well? I hear that the teenage pregnancy rate among Hispanic girls is zooming. Maybe they should look into that.
I don’t agree with anything that is going on in these cults, but I don’t think that this is the way to go about the investigation.
Maybe we should go to the local Indian reservation, too. The girls there are often pregnant at thirteen. The story is that the numbers have to be kept up to get federal benefits, so teenage pregnancy is a good thing.
“What would be her motivation for doing that? Why would a 33 year old impersonate a 13 year old, and then allege she was held against her will or being harmed?”
“Then it’s discovered she has prior convictions for calling in false police reports? “
I don’t want to be so blunt, and offend you, but are you trying to prove to FR Readers that you are ‘slow’ on the uptake????
That should be grounds for long prison terms right there.
so far your addition to the headline is premature.......no charges have been filed.
