In the sad case of the children caught up in the maelstrom of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS) alleged child abuse matter, I tend to fall onto the church side in the separation of church and state.
The state is ill-equipped to deal with 400-plus youngsters it has torn from the bosoms of their mothers in the guise of protecting them from alleged abuses.
In considering this case it's important to keep in mind some rather unpleasant facts:
In America, there are over 500,000 children in foster care;
Approximately 300,000 kids are taken out of their homes every year because of neglect and abuse, and put in foster care;
Some 73 percent of the children put in foster care end up on the streets, or even worse, in jail;
Even though some 100,000 of these 500,000 youngsters are available for adoption, only a pitiful 1.2 percent will ever be adopted.
These statistics should concern every American. It's obvious that the government, which is great at starting wars and taxing the citizenry to pay for some of the worst hare-brained schemes imaginable, hasn't got the slightest idea of how to raise children.

Metmom, I wonder if babies have died at the hands of their ‘fathers’ this way. What evil they are. When I first read that accound (posted here from Carolyn Jessop’s book, Escape) I felt ill...and I am guessing alot of us did.
Boy, do you have that one wrong. I am NOT a Mormon hater, but I do hate this offshoot cult and all that they stand for. Tell me what’s wrong with hating what they do in the name of religion? If you DON’T hate what they do, then as far as I’m concerned, you’re just as bad.
That is very true, however a strange thing has happened to several of my wife's relatives in the last two weeks. One of her sisters is reading the Emma Smith book. She called to ask a few questions regarding some of her doubts. One of her funny questions was: "How come a 350 pound woman can get a temple recommend and folks that drink coke cannot"?
BTW, both of her sons are bishops.
There have been many of you who miss the point of taking all the children.
In cases where the CPS believe that children are being abused, the policy is remove the children and ask question later.
It is that way in most instances. This is just on a grand scale.
All the kids had to be removed if any were going to be removed. This isn’t like all the kids on a city block being removed. These families all live in a communal way.
Greyfoxx, I know probably sounded funny (I try to be humorous if I can be) but on this topic I have been checking the sign in dates (like I posted before, I feel like I am ‘carding’ ids at a bar) before I reply. There are waaay more trolls popping up (on this FDLS situation) than I can remember (and I’ve been here 9 years)...and you are so, so, right...(doing my Ahnold intonation) ‘he’ll be baack.’
The LDS Church is continuing in its change to becoming more mainstream in their Christianity. It only took 170 years, but it is about time!
Maybe in another 170 years, these fLDS will start to mainstream. We can only hope.
Its a ‘gland’ issue. :-)
Can someone who drinks caffeine free cola get one?
>>”True believing Mormons are very embarrassed that they are being exposed for their history and past practices.”<<
There are thing about EVERY religion that the current members are not proud of. I’ll bet you’ll be in favor of reparations for the blacks with that kind of thinking.
If that were the case, I’ll bet the Catholic’s are giving birth to full-grown cows by now, or should be. How many Mormon churches have had to file bankruptcy in order to settle child-rape cases........um.....let me count.....NONE!
Catholic Diocese...San Diego, Portland, Spokane, Los Angeles, Boston.... my fingers will start bleeding if I were to continue this list.
Why not ping your entire list of bigots? Why limit it to just your anti-Mormon “cult-leaders.”?
Very pretty chart. Where’s Moses, Isaac, Jacob and Abraham? Maybe I overlooked them.

>>”That is exactly what the polygamist was saying the other day. Was it you?<<”
You know better than that.
Do a search and show me where I am defending polygamy and child-abuse. I’ll be waiting.............yawn.
You’re using the favorite tactic of all the lightweight apologists. Always change the subject and resort to kindergarten name calling.
That’s because you too are embarrassed about your cult like ways and really do not have the substance to defend your “true” beliefs.
Friendly greetings from the Apostate Bigot!
No, we're not missing the point. We're fighting to retain the Constitutional rights of you and every American. As of this morning, it's looking like this call may have come from a black girl from Colorado.
Picture this, if you can. One phone call to the police from an unnamed/unknown caller saying that screams are being heard from JRochelle’s house late at night. Also, he/she has been spotted unloading “military type” black rifles from his truck late at night. Enter the SWAT TEAM with TANKS! They remove your kids, pets and wife, arrest you and rifle through your house.
All this because your dog pooped in the neighbors flower bed and it ticked her off (the anonymous caller).
Perhaps it is you and your cult of “Mormon-Haters” that are “miss[ing] the point?
I really like my neighbors down here. On Sunday’s they get really weird though. Maybe it’s the suits.
Once in a while I run into some of them down at the Buckskin Bar in Fredonia. For some reason they don’t recognize me.
Apostate Bigot!
Did you forget to take your xanax again.
Oh BTW, your doctor called. It’s time to get your medication adjusted.
Showing that the woman is a loyal favorite...and imagine the competition involved in attaining that standing! Absolute obedience a must!
Please tell what Constitutional rights have been violated in this case?
As for the girl from CO. making the calls, what most likely has happened is that she has been making calls impersonating Sara, since she saw the news on TV.
What are the odds of a black woman in CO knowing a lot of info about the FLDS in Texas?
She has made bogus calls before.
One thing that won’t ever be found at the FLDS compound is a black person.
The large braid in back is also used as a handle as a means of holding them down for all and any manner of control for any purpose needed.
One of our neighbors has a sister in law in the cult in Colorado City. She was here yesterday discussing with us how we might give some help to those seeking refuge.
Maybe, just maybe this happenstance in Texas will be of help to the groups here as the truth continues to be spoken.

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.
However...
http://www.sltrib.com/polygamy/ci_8859783
" But Joni Holm, who has helped children leave the FLDS, said the teenager who called officials on March 29 and 30 and claimed she was abused is married to a different, younger man. "I know they're looking into the wrong one," Holm said.
But Holm said the girl's identity, and the correct identity of her husband, is "common knowledge" in Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale, Utah, where the sect has traditionally been based.
And that is why we see this... The first warrant identified Dale Barlow by name and his birth date. The copy on file in court does not list the name of the investigator who petitioned for it.
Wrong guy, no petitioner, witness / victim apparently not there. In other words the warrant is pretty much useless.
A second and more expanded warrant, signed Sunday night, was based on observations and evidence found by law enforcement and child services workers inside the compound, according to court documents.
That is the warrant that everybody is pointing at claiming everything is perfectly legal. The warrant that was concocted three days AFTER the raid. That warrant names Richard Barlow, not Dale.
So, which is it? Dale or Richard? The excuse from Joni is that the names sound similar. NO they don't! They are not even close. They age is wrong by 15 to 20 YEARS and their on "reliable informant" didnt know that, the girl that no one can find didn't know that but Joni, a local resident, "off the street" so to speak, reports it as common knowledge.
Not only that but the guy named in the FIRST warrant, you know, the one used to actually conduct the raid, is two states away and has been for years. He does not know the girl that nobody can find and Arizona authority are vouching for his story.
So much for their "reliable informant." By the way It strikes me as a bit odd that the Sheriff apparently reported that his informant has not actually been on the FLDS grounds in four years. Do they consider that to be "reliable?"
It will be interesting to note then, as some of these women leave the cult and assimilate into real world America, if 'cutting off the braid' becomes kind of a emancipation proclamation...

Way off, once again, colorcountry. C’mon, you could have at least come up with something more original than that.
I thought I told you at least once that you would break a blood vessel trying to figure out my screen name.
