Yale: Student's Art Project Only 'Creative Fiction' (abortion 'art' was hoax)

A Yale student's bizarre art project in which she claimed to have repeatedly impregnated and induced abortions in herself is a work of "creative fiction" the university said in a statement this afternoon. The Yale Daily News reported this morning that Aliza Shvarts's senior project, set to go on display next week, included video of her bleeding in her bathtub, as well as plastic sheeting layered with a mixture of Vaseline and the post-abortion blood. "Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art," a Yale spokeswoman, Helaine Klasky, said. "She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages. The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman's body." Ms. Klasky went on to suggest that Yale would not have permitted a project of the sort described in the student newspaper. "Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns."

But on the lighter side, can you imagine going out on a first date with this young, ahem “lady?”

“So, Aliza, I hear you graduated from Yale with a degree in art..tell me about your Sr. Project!”

I am sure this “artist” got a A from her prof., and the art world is praising her for her “courage” and “edginess”. Just another example why I do not pay any attention to art if its been produced since 1945.

I’m very glad it turned out to be a hoax. There are certainly other concerns, but I think it turned out about as well as we can hope.

Thanks for the compliment.

I’m glad it was a hoax too, but I’m still disgusted. This spoiled, self-centered little brat shows NO REGARD for the feelings of others.

Just about all of us know women who have suffered the anguish of a miscarriage and the pain and frustration of not being able to get pregnant. These are real issues that women from all walks of life face, and this girl mocked it for pure shock value. These people ARE NOT artists, they are demented pariahs. As far as who approved this “project,” her “advisor” is some leftist who seems to think that building a mock-up of a sauna on a busy street corner and pouring water over naked people constitutes “art” (if a fraternity or sorority were to engage in these acts, they would be criminally prosecuted for hazing).
