Savage should know better than to trust antique dealers (especially mail order). They’re just as crooked as jewelers.
I hate to be the party pooper to Savage, but buying expensive antiques on the internet sight-unseen seems pretty foolish. I know an antique collecting retired couple who scrutinize any potential purchase with a microscope, including history, pedigree, any identifying marks, and professional appraisal before deciding to purchase and at what price. And they only do business with reputable dealers.
