Texas judge holding custody hearing for polygamists' kids
My Way News ^ | April 17, 2008 | Michelle Roberts

"If Walther gives CPS permanent custody of the children, the agency will begin looking for foster homes in a case that has already stretched the legal resources of this small town and the state's child welfare system.

The custody case is one of the largest in U.S. history and involves children from six months to 17 years in age. Roughly 100 of the children are under age 4.

...

Typically, each child would be given a separate hearing, but given the number of cases, it's likely the judge will have the state, the children's attorneys and the parents' attorneys make consolidated presentations, at least initially, said Harper Estes, president-elect of the state bar.

"You can't go one-by-one," Estes said.

Walther's courtroom is expected to be jammed with attorneys and parents, so a live video feed has been set up in nearby City Hall to allow the media and the public to watch the proceedings.

If the judge gives the state permanent custody, CPS will have an enormous challenge in finding homes for the children in an already tight foster system.

CPS has relied on volunteers to help feed the children, launder linens and provide crafts and games for them in a dorm-style setting for the past two weeks. But the agency will have to find stable homes and try to decipher sibling relationships that should be preserved if it gets permanent custody."

CPS will have an enormous challenge in finding homes for the children in an already tight foster system

Rural children trained into near-robot status by a cult will present far fewer disciplinary problems than typical foster kids from the inner city present to foster families.

I would guess that they would be snapped up.

If these parents have their parental rights permanently terminated, I would guess that 100 white children under age 4 put up for adoption would be able to find good homes in roughly 7 to 8 nanoseconds.

Well, since polygamy is against the law...their parents are law-breakers. Also, I don’t think you can call it “supporting” yourself when all the extra wives are on welfare...

Not going to support the fact that they are getting married at 13 though are you?

How can they possibly ask for PERMANENT custody of 400+ children before the investigation and trials of the guilty have barely started?

We don't know if their mothers are guilty of anything at this point. We haven't even arrested the alleged rapists yet or verified anything.

It would be incomprehensible to permanently remove the mothers' rights at this point in the investigation.

Given this fact the police should close off DC and take everyone’s children from them because some of them “may” be being abused in some manner.

If DC was run by a single cult leader directing the behavior of all parents with an iron fist, you might have had a vague semblance of a point.

But as it stands now, you don't.

Nonsense, Fairfax County has had the occupancy limits code in place for many decades. It wasn't directed at Hispanics nor Moslems. Rather the targets were Hillbillies from Central Pennsylvania, West Virginia, East Tennessee and the mountain regions of 'bama and Georgia.

It's being enforced against Hispanics and Moslems at the moment however.

"At the very least they are suspect of being co-conspirators in child rape."

All of them?

So what your saying is that as long as you practice a religion, any religion, you can still reside in this country and expect to recieve all its legal protections and financial benefits like welfare, but at the same time, you can refuse to follow its laws, including ones dealing with child molestation, incest, and polygamy?
And that any parents who actively promote molestation of their children, incest, and polygamous relationships should not have their parental rights striped of them?

Really? On what grounds?

I thought many of the mothers of these children were the VICTIMS of child rape? That is the “scrap” of “evidence” upon which they based the warrant that allowed the raid in the first place, anyway.

This is a boondoggle in which the government has over-stepped its bound once again. If some of the men are suspected of child rape they should have been arrested and charged. If, in questioning those men, other charges become warranted, then they should be brought against the appropriate persons.

EVERYONE ELSE should have been left alone!!!

But if a man actually gets married, to multiple women and supports them

Do you believe that these cultists actually work and earn money to support these families?

Do you also believe that Carleton Sheets has a foolproof plan that can turn anyone into a millionaire?

Let's put it this way ~ these are white children and the state is acting on their behalf in a way denied the little black children and little brown children elsewhere in the state.

No doubt Houston, Dallas, and Corpus Christi will be the next to move in on this problem you have identified eh?!

(There, just played the race card ~ it's about race ~ the white kids get government services the non-white kids don't get ~ so that justifies pulling DHS out and just leaving these kids to those people, whoever they are)/sarc.

Also, what is the rate for physical and sexual abuse in foster homes nowadays anyway????

State sponsered physical and sexual abuse doesn’t count.

PS - A TRUE patriot will do ANYTHING to protect the Constitution of the United States of America.

Even if it means some bad people don’t get what we all know they deserve.

Which part of the Constitution has this case violated? Please quote specifics and how it is applicable. Then, please suggest the proper response to all the repeated complaints of polygamy, child abuse, and pedophilia.

So have you signed up to be a foster parent to one of these kids yet?

I know you are being at least partially facetious.

However, I want to say that the “government service” provided to these “white” children is one I would not wish on any child of any race/color.

When will the authorities in Texas start checking up on Planned Parenthood because teenage girls are being brought in by older men?

The girls are pregnant and the men bring them there to “cover up the evidence” with abortions.

If sex abuse of girls by older men is what we are looking for why aren’t we looking at PP?
