God bless America - and I love Pope Benedict (loved him as Ratzinger, too, when he was a bulldog for conservative truth).
He was JP II’s ‘right’ hand man. :o)

Pope Benedict XVI acknowledges guests Wednesday, April 16, 2008, during the arrival ceremony for the Pope on the South Lawn of the White House. Said Pope Benedict XVI during the ceremony, "Mr. President, dear friends, as I begin my visit to the United States, I express once more my gratitude for your invitation, my joy to be in your midst, and my fervent prayers that Almighty God will confirm this nation and its people in the ways of justice, prosperity and peace." I am watching video of, perhaps, the entire ceremony:

While I can’t seem to get a big screen, it’s much better quality video.
Oh, and by the way, the Army Chorus made me cry.
Better quality indeed. Thanks. Rush needs to brush up on the technology available.
This is the only type of music that makes me choke up.
In reflecting on the spiritual victory of freedom over totalitarianism in his native Poland and in Eastern Europe, he reminded us that history shows time and again that "in a world without truth, freedom loses its foundation," and a democracy without values can lose its very soul. Those prophetic words in some sense echo the conviction of President Washington, expressed in his Farewell Address, that religion and morality represent "indispensable supports" of political prosperity.
The Church, for her part, wishes to contribute to building a world ever more worthy of the human person, created in the image and likeness of God. She is convinced that faith sheds new light on all things, and that the Gospel reveals the noble vocation and sublime destiny of every man and woman.
and again later, I hear a plane flying over.
Very strange feeling accompanies hearing that sound, there, and then.
God shed His grace on thee, America.
This dumb laptop—the screen started getting blurry as soon as the chorus started singing(sniff).
I believe the sound quality is better, as well. The Battle Hymn comes at the conclusion of the Holy Father’s remarks.
Score one for the good guys. Christians united - take that towel-heads.
gotta love the picture of the small kids...I was LUCKY enough to see John Paul II at Madison Square Garden when I was in high school- they gave tickets to all the kids in Catholic school who wanted to go...I remember it as though it were yesterday....
I wonder how leftists react to the Battle Hymn of the Rep.
It really was well done and appropriate.
Very cool. The Papacy has not lost the ability to inspire mightily.
A keeper.
A keeper.
