more than a quarter of Clinton voters say they will vote for McCain come fall if Obama is the party's nominee, while just 1 in 5 Obama voters say they will switch to McCain if Clinton is chosen.

I would take that with a large measure of salt. In the heat of battle, things are said that might not pan out.

I would seriously doubt that McCain gets 20-25% of the Dem vote.

You're probably right. But if he gets half of that in the right state or two, that could be enough to put him over the top. That's assuming he doesn't screw up his VP choice and the repubs don't stay home on election day.

I guess I need to work on my math; he purportedly would get 20-25% of the loser's share of the dem vote, which would be 10-12% of the dem vote altogether.

Still, it's a stretch.
