Some preliminary thoughts, and then Point / Counter Point -

What I would like to see conservatives do in the remaining GOP Primary states, and through to the convention...

Nothing says that we have to be clumsy about it. Interest and activisim, - Yes. Tear the Party apart? - No. Just checking our options, testing the waters, and putting forward some fresh faces and new talent for the public and media to take a look at and to consider.

~ ~>> ~In mid-April, the primaries are about over, the GOP decision has been made. Accept it, leave it alone.

Assesment (April 15th) - how the GOP got its presumptive nominee... and now what... options...

More to write, but to get this started, on to what others are `saying' / writing...

Point / Counter Point:

First the obvious:

It is hard to see how an upstart campaign by a Conservative independend could have any other effect but hurting John McCain and electing the Democrat in November.

Now, there are a lot of folks here at FR who seem to think that is a good idea. I am not one of them.

GG, Conservatives are leaving the Republican party, let alone the Democrat party...

FR: Golden Gate says: Find Fresh Faces and New Talent and use their names as write-in candidates, and use the remaining primary states as a `testing ground' to begin to find an possible alternative to McCain.

[Following - Some of my oringinal notes on this discussion:]

Is this about some conservatives being sore losers? Maybe for some. Maybe there is a lot more to it.

Their was something really wierd about the GOP Primary 2008...

We can discuss & anaylize it, try to determine what it is / was...

Someone on FR described the 08 GOP Primary Election as "the worst ever!".

Because of this, I propose the following, what you find posted on this page.

To have new candidates / spokesmen step forward to adequately present the conservative message to the GOP, the media, and the American people.

We need to help search for the best GOP VP nominee.

We need to help the GOP ~nominee~ get ready for the Fall election. Or, maybe GOP voters and delegates will change their mind at the Republican National Convention.

  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

1. Some how, some way, conservatives were not ready for '08. Did anyone have a plan? Do we know how to work together? If you are still complaining about the ~nominee~, what is your plan?

2. The conservative hosts & commentators. Did we trust them to help get us the best candidate possible, and did they let us down?

3. Early GOP primary states were moderate / liberal, and Dems voters could cross over and vote for the moderate / lib GOP candidates.

4. Did the best candidate win in the GOP? Is the prospective nominee acceptable, or should we look for another?

5. Early on, there was a lot of conservative rancor toward John McCain. Does he still deserve it?

6. What happened to the best conservative candidates? Trouble with the media, or not enough money? Was the problem media, money, or was it a lack of message? Were the conservative candidates betrayed in any way?

7. other...?

April 12, 2008 - 8:00 PM

Democrats - The Democratic Party needs to dramatically change themselves before they can offer to lead others. I find the remaining two candidates to be unimpressive and uninspiring. All they have to offer is the continued Democratic mediocrity and corruption of the past. There are currently no prominent Democratic leaders or candidates who deserve our support or our vote.   And NO, I don't want Gupper to come in and try to save the day.   He would be just another Democrat retread.   Let him keep busy as he pretends to save the planet.

Conservative Democrat voters need to begin a "Talent Search" in the states and local government for new leaders and candidates. We need to offer an alternative to the failed and corrupt Democratic socialism.

Delegates are now being selected for the 2008 Dem National Convention in Denver. What efforts can be made to encourage these delegates to abandon the failed policies of the Democratic Party and to finally see the importance of the adoption of some basic conservative values.

The GOP has clearly shown over several years it has and continues to diverge incrementally from conservatism in an effort to appease the socialist left to expand the voter and thereby win an election. The irony is the GOP is losing with such a strategy since it only empowers socialists who never intend to sacrifice their beliefs. The result is the merging of the Republican party with the socialist Democrats to he point where they are essentially one party.

The conservative cause can only advance outside the GOP by uniting under a conservative umbrella. Doing so will restore the two party system and prevent socialists in the GOP and Democrat parties from replacing our Democratic Republic with socialism.

To: Golden Gate; All

I have only about 10 minutes here. I would like to reply to the 2 comments, but first a comment on the formatting, of all things.

Hey Golden Gate! I love the way the top section is nicely centered! :)

Uh, yeah. Could have been worse.
