Sorry, that is just flat out incorrect.
"after they have escaped the defilements of the world" means just that. Or would you care to explain how they could "escaped the defilements of the world" without being saved. This one I'm waiting to hear, it should be a doozy...
"they are again entangled therein".
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome , the latter end is worse with them than the beginning
They understood through the knowledge of Christ to do better than they had previously, but they forsook that knowledge
