They use modern techniques of warfare, and weaponry. They source their funding from wealthy sympathisers in India, Canada, Britain and the rest of Europe.
After they assassinated former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, in revenge for his ordering of Indian troops into Sri Lanka to destroy the LTTE, they were put under the list of terror organisations by the Indian government. Pressure from India led the US to do the same.
