The point is doctors have no incentive to offer patients the best care at an affordable price. They can charge what the market can bear because someone else pays the bill. Ditto for patients. The bill is absurd from their point of view but they get off paying it too. In the health care system, there's a lot of cost shifting and little cost containment or real choice. No one wants it.

Doctors like pro baseball have a monopoly labor guild. As with the American Bar Association, the American Medical Association should be subject to anti-trust. There should be at least 5 national, or more, labor organizations and they should compete.

Why can I not go direct to say a Physicians Assistant, or something like it for a chest cold, or to get some stitches from a fishing hook?

Why do I have to go to a guy who went to med school, with stuff I used to go to a Army medic for? Is this an efficient use of a real Doctors training?

Instead of opening up the medical labor market to free market innovation and cost control, most everyone wants to go the more government, more rules, more lawyers, more enforced laws( a la Romney/Hillarycare ).
