You seem familiar some how. What’s your DU name?
I take this mass firing to be a good sign. I also like what I see as it applies to Sadr’s militia, and that it may be asked to stand down.
If the later does take place, I certainly don’t share your negative outlook.
sacking more than 1,300 soldiers and policemen who deserted during recent fighting against Shiite militias in Basra
“You sir are an idiot and an ass.”
You have yet to support your previous claims. You had claimed that the attrition rate was 40%. When asked for a source, you cited the embassy’s web site. I challenged your claim, then you changed your source to MSM links, none of which supported your claims. You had also asserted that Maliki went against U.S. suggestions. You have not supported this claim either. You are disingenuous. Now you run around claiming we have no allies in Iraq. Absurd statements like this showered with false claims is your standard behavior.
General Petraeus stated during his recent Senate testimony that the Iraqis are taking 3 to 4 times the casualties than our troops.
Not standing up? Many of them are.
Peace proposal? Where did you come up with that fiction?
It's called a Hudna, an ancient Arab tactic invoked by the losing side to prevent annihilation, and to buy time to regroup and rearm. The effective military response should be o say "no thanks" and keep killing the enemy until they surrender. for some reason, this quaint custom still holds sway there (and, I think I know why). Nonetheless, Mookie called the Hudna because he was having his ass handed to him.

I notice that you haven’t been on this board that long... perhaps you would feel more comfortable with the du-mmies?
You just make that up, didn't you.
“Nonetheless, Mookie called the Hudna because he was having his ass handed to him.”
And having his aide whacked was the final slap that brought him to his senses. Now, if Maliki’s smart, he’ll make a “peace deal” that sounds really good to Sadr. And when Sadr comes to sign the papers Maliki should pull a pistol and shoot him through the head right when he’s bent over signing the document.
I know of a country which had more than 1300 soldiers desert or refuse to fight, essentially because they were adherents to different beliefs than their country’s rulers. These deserters’ co-believers engaged in riots and terrorist attacks. They wanted to overthrow their country’s elected government and install their own. That country’s elitist governing class was rife with corrupt and debauched people who were not (always) held to account for their actions, whereas those not of the ruling clas were sometimes punished harshly for the very same actions.
Do you think that country should have given up the struggle, and let the terrorists take over?

You’re a little light on facts.
Counter insugency operations take a while. I may be forgetting something but I do not recall any successful counter insurgency campaigns being complete in less time than we have been fighting this one. Perhaps you could enlighten me with an example of one.
Good for you. It seems you are one of the few who DOES have credibility on this forum. A lot of the rest is a cloud of flatulence emitted by those with IEB.
They do exist and they are not a minority at all.
They are an overwhelming majority.
Except perhaps in the media's active imaginations.
What percentage of this force and IA in general folded?
Not uncommon for a new force to suffer high AWOL/desertions.
I am reminded of the story in Judges how Gideon winnowed out his soldiers until he had the best who could be trusted.
Think of this as a combat version of ‘trainee discharge’.
I was chatting with my dad who asserted that the Bush presidency was incompetent. I asked why FDR didn’t stop Hitler in 1935.
Dad said ‘Well, we didn’t tink Hitler was a threat.’
My response: ‘Well, after 295,000 US service men died in combat, who was incompetent?’
