WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid disclosed today that a hugely expensive bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic Senator Barack Obama, was quickly passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. Kincaid said that the major media's cover-up of the bill, which makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations, demonstrates the media's desire to see Senator Obama elected to the presidency.

In a column posted on the AIM web site, Kincaid noted that Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S. 2433) through his committee without hearings. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends. It was scheduled for a Thursday vote but was moved up a day, to Wednesday, and rushed through by voice vote. Kincaid learned, however, that conservative Senators have now put a "hold" on the legislation, in order to prevent it from being rushed to the floor for a full Senate vote.

Our federal budget for 2008 is $2.9 trillion. Obama proposes giving $845 billion to the UN for his Global Poverty Act. That's almost 1/3 of our annual budget for a GLOBAL WELFARE PROGRAM. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!

My guess is that this $845 Billion will be managed about as well as the UN's Oil for Food Program. It will likely be stolen by dictator of nations that want to blow us up.

People cannot grasp $845 Billion but when you tell them that it's about 1/3 of our 2008 federal budget, it opens their eyes.

Currently, the Gulf Coast region and the states of Washington and Kansas are fighting over a $40 billion Air Force tanker contract that will mean up to 45,000 good jobs. The $40 billion being spent would create a lot of jobs. We'll get nothing in return for the $845 Billion Obama plans to give away.

There's a lot of things we could do with $845 billion. I am certainly not a fan of WELFARE but I'd prefer to at least keep it at home before sending it to foreign nations.

In the article, it talks about the major media's coverup of Obama's proposal. This demonstrates the media's desire to see Obama elected to the presidency. I did a Google search and couldn't find any major news outlets that carried this story. I know a lot of folks that follow politics closely and most of them have never even heard of Obama's planned giveaway.

A lot of people have a hard time grasping how much money $845 Billion really is. If they hear it's almost 1/3 of our annual federal budget, they're shocked. Obama doesn't have much of a record to stand on but when people hear this, some of them will open their eyes.

People need to be made aware of Obama's planned giveaway. Don't count on the media doing it. Hopefully people will email this information to their family and friends.

bump - It would be helpful if you could find an article about this UN give away program. I know that I have read about it, but the post would carry more weight if you could find the information in writing.

On some level I bet alot of the CRAP these people pass could be found unconstitutional. We (citizens) should at least be trying to do so. There is no way the founding fathers of this country thought we should be supporting the world.
So much BS so little time.

Obama will just say, “George Bush spends trillions on Iraq, which does nothing but make us less safe, it’s causing our troops to die for no reason, and it’s killing innocent civilians for no reason. $845 billion is not a lot compared to the war, especially when you consider it will make us much safer, and help millions of people.”

This link to REUTERS talks about how it’s being covered up by the media:

http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS270563+13-Feb-2008+PRN20080213

If you do a Google search, you won’t find much of anything because the media is covering up for the guy.

Feb 13?

Glenn Beck and World Net Daily have articles about it on their web site, too, on Feb 14.

I guess this bill is now dead in the water. I haven’t heard any more about it.

This is a joint creation of the NWO, the Demonrats, the so-called “news” media and the rest of the Conspiracy to make all nations states in the world government. Thank the Bilderbergers, Illuminati, international bankers, Rockefellers and others.

It’s proof that people behind the scenes are pulling the strings on our national leaders, who are puppets.

I don’t know where it is now but it’s not going away anytime soon — especially if Obama gets elected.

Check out section 2:9

(9) At the summit of the Group of Eight (G-8) nations in July 2005, leaders from all eight participating countries committed to increase aid to Africa from the current $25,000,000,000 annually to $50,000,000,000 by 2010, and to cancel 100 percent of the debt obligations owed to the World Bank, African Development Bank, and International Monetary Fund by 18 of the world's poorest nations.

This is just another example of Obama's constitutionally unauthorized federal spending ideas. This post (<-click), while addressing a tax-related thread, explains in more detail why federal politicians like Obama are actually in contempt of the Constitution where constitutionally unauthorized federal spending is concerned, a consequence of FDR's dirty politics.

The people need to wise up to the major problem that the federal government has been operating outside the restraints of the federal Constitution since the days of FDR. The bottom line is that the people need to quit sitting on their hands and actually vote Constitution-ignoring socialists like Obama out of office as opposed to trying to send people like him to the Oval Office.

The 845 billion, according to the article, would be over a 13 year figure, not in one year as you suggest. However, you are correct in calling it insane.
