Arizona all on its own is a very important GOP state to win the presidency in November. It's growing and having a McCain landslide in the state will help Republicans down the ballot. It will also likely increase Republican chances of winning in states like Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico.
At least he’s not an Al Gore, who can’t carry his own State.
Well one should hope so. If McCain couldn’t win his home state by a landslide, he should’t be on the ticket in the first place.
If McCain truly can’t carry Arizona on November 4, then he’s truly finished.
That's John Wayne McCain to you!
;-)
Wonder how these dynamics will change once these "bitter, gun-toting, Jesus-loving Mountain folk" have a chance to digest the obamamama latest slip of the brain
The result being one socialist will defeat the other two.
Si, McCain es el amigo mejor de la reconquista en Arizona.
Me too.
Nah, nothing to get excited about. Favorite son winning his home state is expected. The real news would be if he was losing in his home state (hey, AlGore: ha ha).
AZ is a must-win... the good news would be if it spills over to CO and NM, which are the real battleground states.
The rest of the mountain West should be in McCain’s column.
I kind of glad McCain is from Arizona and will definitely win this state (despite the fact some conservatives are and will always be angry with McCain). I know many Obama/Clinton supporters here and I am glad that no matter what happens here, McCain will win and their votes will be neutralized due to the electoral college system.
I still hope McCain campaigns here a bit to raise the morale of his home state supporters. However, he really needs to try to win the other states. This state is in the bag.
Jerry Ford carried Arizona.
April 10, 2008 POLL: Marist New York GeneralOf course, it's a little artificial. I don't think Condi will be VP choice (and that's a good thing, IMO). It's also very early to be taking polls too seriously. Nevertheless, that the dem candidate is running only neck-in-neck with a republican is amazing. Even though the dem constest is still undecided, the dem should have at least a 10-poing lead. You can't explain the closeness there by the current infighting on the dem side.
WNBC/Marist Poll
New York State
McCain 48, Obama 46... Clinton 48, McCain 46
McCain/Rice 49, Obama/Clinton 44
McCain/Rice 49, Clinton/Obama 46
I hope this helps the down ticket in lots of areas. McCain is no one's favorite on this site, but a big win by him could help conservatives pick up a few seats that would have been hopeless otherwise. That's the only way we start clawing our way back into the thick of things.
