"If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that," Obama said in an interview with the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal.
But the Clinton campaign fueled the controversy in every place and every way it could, hoping charges that Obama is elitist and arrogant will resonate with the swing voters the candidates are vying for not only in Pennsylvania, but in upcoming primaries in Indiana and North Carolina as well.

Honestly I didn’t care much when the whole Rev. Wright thing came out, but I think his recent comments show a real, serious lack of thinking. Even liberals agree that Obama should not have said that.
I love it how Obama has been busted for what he said in a private closed doors event, implying “Typical White People” are ignorant racist bible bashing trigger happy hicks.

Right, it shows a lack of judgement and savvy, from “the typical white” comment and this. I wonder if democrats can see that a wiser, experienced politician would never make such an error, as he’s courting the very votes of the people he’s offending.

I think it important to have ODumbo's full paragraph, insofar as it is known:
Obama, speaking of some Pennsylvanians' economic anxieties, told supporters at the San Francisco fundraiser: "You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. ... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
The key here has little to do with "bitter"... the key is how this "uniter" and similar members of the "intelligentsia" look down on we the people, and our beliefs and values and political motivations! Unless you happen to be one of his elitist comrades or at a high rolling fundraiser, he considers you to be a seriously duped person if you don't agree with him. Whether it's religion, guns, illegals, etc... it's all looked at as being part of being lower class.
His looking down on we who happen to seriously care about our religion explains why he could simply ignore all that Wright was saying to begin with, too. It really didn't matter to him what was going on in the sermons. He was simply there for show to begin with, and to put in some face time to get "known".
