Gay Catholics plan 'respectful presence' along pope's route (spew massive chunks alert)

Not all Catholics are welcoming Pope Benedict XVI with open arms. Gay Catholics and especially gay Catholics associated with DignityUSA will launch formal protests in Washington and New York against Benedict and his "anti-gay stances."

Mark Matson of Powell, Ohio, is president of the board of DignityUSA, the nation's largest organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics.

"We, along with many Catholics, disagree with the church's official position about teachings on sexual issues," Matson said. "Our particular area of focus is around sexual orientation.

"There are lot of faithful Catholics who dissent from the church's teachings on sexuality. For example, Catholics and birth control. Most lay Catholics don't follow the church's teaching on birth control issues or family planning. There are major disconnects between what Catholics do and what the church demands of them."

Matson characterizes DignityUSA as a "voice of faithful dissent." On Saturday, April 12, the organization will stage a protest demonstration — The Global Impact of Pope Benedict's Anti-gay Campaign — at Ralph J. Bunche Park across the street from the United Nations in New York City.

"The Vatican demands strict allegiance," Matson said. "The current pope is about orthodoxy. But a fundamental teaching of the church is the primacy of conscience. This means any Catholic whose conscience is well-informed by the teachings of the church ultimately has to follow their conscience."

On Tuesday, when the pope arrives, DignityUSA will demonstrate along the pope's motorcade route through Washington D.C. The group will be present during the pope's meeting with U.S. bishops Wednesday.

"We're going to have a presence on the parade route with signs," Matson explained. "It will be a respectful presence by a portion of his flock that has been ignored and vilified."

If they “disagree with the [C]hurch’s OFFICIAL POSITION [ephasis supplied] about teachings on sexual issues”, they’re not Catholics. Doesn’t work that way.

Hence the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

I wonder if they’ll be discussing the fact that virtually all of the sexual abuse of children by priests the Church has been suffering through was HOMOSEXUAL abuse?

Then find a new Church, buttboys.

There are PLENTY of Christian denominations open to homosexuals... why do they have to insist the one that is not, accommodates that lifestyle?

I don’t care how these people see themselves. They can be baptised a thousand times, crawl on their knees from Washington to Rome, say as many Hail Mary’s and Our Fathers as often as they breathe but they are not Catholics as long as they choose to oppose the teachings of the church and rally others to do so.

LOL!
I am so sick of these people.
My daughter, after Church last Sunday made a good (sarcastic) point, and made me laugh.
She said to say only homosexual behavior should be accepted as normal is bigotry!
What about the others in that verse?
The fornicator, the adulterer, the sexually perverse?
If a Christian can be gay, or trans gendered (sexually perverse) then why not an adulterer?
Why not a man (or woman) who lives in sin?
If it is acceptable to now have sex with the same sex, then whats wrong with coveting someone else's spouse?
Or persons who just want to shack up?
Sexually perverse covers a wide range, take your pick.
Let it all hang out.
If one is acceptable, they must all be. By logic.
It was much funnier, coming from her, in her animated way!
They can protest all they want.
They may change the world so that every church has to accept them.
It still does not change the word of God.
In the end, that is who they will have to answer to.

If you want to read an astounding piece of work on this topic, pick up Randy Engel’s book: “The Rite of Sodomy: Homosexuality and the Roman Catholic Church”. Can’t say enough about how honest and well researched it is. From ancient antiquity to the present day, 1300 pages on the historical reality of the sodomist agenda.

"The current pope is about orthodoxy. But a fundamental teaching of the church is the primacy of conscience. This means any Catholic whose conscience is well-informed by the teachings of the church ultimately has to follow their conscience."

SECTION TWO
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

CHAPTER TWO
"YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF"

ARTICLE 6
THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not commit adultery.112

You have heard that it was said, "You shall not commit adultery." But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.113

I. "MALE AND FEMALE HE CREATED THEM . . ."

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
Catechism of the Catholic Church

There, it is in the Bible! This is yet one more example of the media taking advantage of ignorant Catholics to stir the pot for their viewers.

"faithful Catholics who dissent"

Their minds are so far gone I don't even think they notice the contradiction.

Sign held by a gay protester: "I can't even think straight.

“Today’s textbook definition of Contradiction of Terms.”

well...technically - you can be a “gay catholic” and still be in communion with the church as long as you are not actively living the lifestyle - not participating in homosexual acts.

The Church does not teach that the orientation, itself, is sinful.

The gays have a point though...heterosexual couples are also ignoring Church teaching.

“I wonder if they’ll be discussing the fact that virtually all of the sexual abuse of children by priests the Church has been suffering through was HOMOSEXUAL abuse?”

exactly....the media incorrectly labeled the scandal as a “pedophile” priest problem.
They didn’t double check the definition of a true pedophile.
Pedophiles are attracted to children who have not yet reached puberty.

While a few of the priests met this definition, the overwhelming majority of abusers fell into the “ephebophile” definition....those who are attracted to children going through puberty - or directly post-puberty (in other words - teenagers).

The porn industry markets to heterosexual ephebophiles with their “barely legal teens!!” slogans.

As the majority of victims in the Church scandal were teenage boys - the problem really lies with homosexual ephebophilia.

And since the homosexual culture is one obsessed with youth, then one can safely say homosexuality was more to blame for this scandal than pedophilia was.

Gay Catholics

Isn't that an oxymoron?

I think what is meant by this term is **practicing** gay. How can one advocate acceptance of active homosexuality by the Catholic Church? That is impossible. The two philosophies can no coexist.

That is in contradiction to Catholic teachings as well.

I am not a Catholic, but I would be **thrilled** if Catholics would practice their religion...ALL of it!

And God Bless You for saying it so eloquently!
