Goodonya, Star! Two thoughts. First, you write:
> No smackdowns yesterday, but if we keep at it,
we’ll get some more
For the videos that have been flagged but haven’t been converted into “Kills” yet, I wonder if there is any value in keeping them on a “Crippled” list for follow-up?
We can probably only flag each video once each, but for the “Cripples” we can enlist new FReepers (or indeed family members, or...?) to flag them, too — if we keep hammering them they are bound to eventually go down in flames.
Second, I wonder if, at some point, we should actually go after YouTube itself. They are aiding and abetting the terrorists by providing this facility. This is wrong. They are an American company and they should not be doing this. And it should not take private individuals like us to make them do the right thing. For free.
Perhaps we should instead offer to help police their content for them, in exchange for regular hefty donations, either to the FRee Republic or to a Veteran’s Cause or to CARE Packages for the troops, or...?
We are doing them a valuable service by helping them comply with the law. They should be grateful, and they should be willing to acknowledge that somehow.
Your thoughts?
First, the videos that are flagged but not removed ARE kept on a list and are recycled periodically. There are some who, for whatever reason, are EXTREMELY stubborn. They will keep coming back until they are DONE. :-)
As for the other — I don’t know if you read that article from The Jawa Report that I linked here called “You Tube Speak With Forked Tongue” but I have thought about what you’re thinking about too. They say that they rely on their community to help them police, but when we are flagging like mad, it appears to me that that statement is a CYA move and NOT what they really do. There are some videos that have been flagged many, many times that are REALLY bad and it’s as if they have some special behind-the-scenes deal with YouTube. I will ask the Smackdown folks to give us a list of a few of those that we can flag every week until they are down — maybe a steady complaint line would do it. But YouTube is Google. They are BIG. Of course, once upon a time, Dan Blather was big too. :-D

Ok -- I just emailed with Smackdown. It turns out that once upon a time there was someone at Smackdown who carried that torch, but now they are no longer around. Someone is needed to pick up the torch and run with it. Look at this link:
Jihad Videos: Open Letter To You Tube
Someone who is articulate and relentless is needed for this -- is there anyone on this thread who's up for it?
