In Illinois four teens tried a home invasion, the armed housesitter shot and killed one of them. The one who died had pointed a gun at the home occupant -- that was a fatal mistake. The armed occupant/housesitter shot the 14 year old home invader. The accomplices in the invasion are charged with murder -- because their partner ended up dead.

Guy was startled by an intruder with a firearm and he got off two shots and two hits (one grazed the burglar, one got him center mass). Pretty good shooting.

Worst part is..the 18YO was probably the instigator and the 14yo was probably just tagging alone. Criminals all, but I suspect the oldest was the ringleader. Ah well, at least one future inmate is gone.

I'm sure you've got that right. He was probably the last inside and the first out the door - making sure his minor accomplices, likely eager to please him, left their prints all over the place and carried all the stolen goods on their persons.

One gone and accomplices lives ruined and off the streets at least for awhile. Great News!!!!

I think this is excellent (ie charging the others with murder). This ought to be standard sentencing for all crimes that groups of people commit together.

If one of their group gets killed in self defense by the innocent person(s) or officers, they should always be charged with murder. If a criminal(s) are injured but survive, they should all get aggravated assault thrown in automatically. This should be the sentencing everywhere.
