Angelina's (Jolie's) Brother Heads to Washington (PURPOSE DRIVEN)

Angelina Jolie isn’t the only humanitarian in her family!

Not to be outdone, her brother James Haven is set to appear before the Senate on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to lobby about the fight against AIDS and malaria, The Washington Post reports.

The 34-year-old will meet with senators Dick Lugar and Barbara Boxer, among others, to discuss the various efforts being employed in this battle.

While his sister has had her share of acclaim for her globe-trotting good deeds, James has received less fanfare for his big heart. The actor is on the advisory board of Global Action for Children, which will shepherd him around the Hill, and serves as a youth pastor at the Saddlebrook Church, an evangelical church in southern California run by Purpose-Driven Life author Rick Warren.

And how about Goodwill Ambassador Angelina herself? The 32-year-old honorary chair of Global Action is also in Washington, D.C., this week, where she attended the Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards gala Monday evening and is scheduled to meet with the Council on Foreign Relations on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, her sons, Maddox, 6, and Pax, 4, who joined mom for the trip, are passing time flying high at the Air and Space Museum. The brothers spent Monday afternoon at the aeronautic center, where they continually inquired tour guides about the Space Hall, Skylab and the WWI and WWII exhibits.

Saddle BROOK church?

He serves as a youth pastor at Saddleback huh? Scary thought. Well actually all the pastors at Saddleback are a scary thought.

You know...people do stupid things when they’re young...and most times they change as they age. He’s involved in the Church..I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I’ve taken many a trip to DC myself. Meetings in Senate and Congressional offices are important. I don’t see any evidence that this guy is any more self involved than most.

Interesting.

Her dad turns out to be a Republican at heart, and her brother turns out to be a youth pastor.

And, if you’ve ever listened to her speak, she clearly aspires to be more than just another actress.

Honestly, if actors did not take up causes, nothing would get the exposure that some causes receive. I am greatful that actors are selfless with their time and look to charities to support. Even Idol gives back is doing their part. I applaud them and anyone willing to be charitable.

I bet having a semi-celebrity in the church makes the outreach so much more effective. Funny Kirk Cameron doesn’t go there.

I agree. She is an interesting person as far as that goes. However I watched her talk about herself on Inside the Actor’s studio and she is one messed up woman.

And her brother is in a man-centered social-gospel church, in a position of leadership. GO FIGURE.

Honestly, if actors did not take up causes, nothing would get the exposure that some causes receive.

Matthew 6 - one of the most favored segments of these people which they use as a club to tell us all we're not doing enough (and frankly neither are they - none of us are and none of us ever WILL be doing enough.)

1"Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

2"So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

3"But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
If God notices, it is enough. If he does not, it will never be enough.

You know I forgot about those passages. You are correct about not advertising. I just completely forgot about those sadly. You are right if the stars want to give they should do so without announcements.
