According to Obama, the fact that his grandmother was frightened by an aggressive panhandler who continued to harrangue her for money after she had already given him money and who happened to be black is “racism” by a “typical white person”. Obama classified this “racism” at the same level as Jerimiah Wright’s “divisive” comments. However, in his speech, Obama left out the “aggressive panhandling” part and said the man was “just passing on the street” when he said his grandma “made him cringe” with her “typical white person” racism.
He mentioned he didn't agree with Wright politically, and as you mentioned, his Grandmother being frightened by an aggressive black man made Obama "cringe."
