No breakthrough in North Korea talks, U.S. says

The United States and North Korea have made no breakthrough toward a final resolution for Pyongyang's declaration of its nuclear program, U.S. Secretary of State Christopher Hill said on Wednesday.

Six-nation talks aimed at curbing North Korea's nuclear ambitions have been held up pending a full accounting of North Korea's nuclear activities, a declaration due at the end of last year.

Negotiators to the six-party talks met Chinese foreign ministry officials in Beijing on Wednesday.

Hill said he had "good discussions" with his Chinese, Japanese and South Korean counterparts, but said more work was needed despite "definite" progress toward a final resolution.

"We haven't yet arranged for all the factors, or the elements, that have to be put together," Hill told reporters in Beijing.

"We have a lot of work ahead of us. I don't want to suggest there's been any major breakthrough."

If the North makes a declaration that satisfies Washington, it stands to be removed from a U.S. terrorism blacklist and be better able to tap into finance that could boost its economy.

China's Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei also met with Akitaka Saiki, the Japanese chief negotiator to the six-party talks, and North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan on Wednesday.

Get ready for more DPRK missile launches, and land/air/sea incursions. My guess, the next one will occur by Sunday Korea time.
