LOL...I just saw an old movie again..”Ruthless People” with Danny DeVitto and Bette Midler. Your comment made me think of how once Bette was kiddnapped, the kidnappers kept having to lower the amount of ransom money because DeVitto did not want her back.

Except with Carter it would be more like the “Ransom of Red Chief” where the kidnappers in final desperation, smuggle him back into the States just to be rid of an incredible pest.
