With businesses and individuals fleeing California for states with lower tax burdens, the senate in Sacramento is taking up a pressing issue: allowing the Communist Party access to the state's public schools. Sure enough, a Democratic state Senator from Long Beach, Alan Lowenthal, who is a longtime professor of "community psychology" at Cal State Long Beach, has introduced a bill to allow Communist groups to use space in the schools and to allow Communists to teach in the schools.

I think you are correct in this statement. Literally the Communist Party USA has not needed to run their own candidates since the recent Democrat candidates have been more than satisfactory to them --- they are positively elated at having an Obama or a Hillary Clinton as a possible candidate.
Here's a bit of their delight at the state of the current Democrat party:
Landslide: Sweep Republicans from Power in November

At its quarterly national committee meeting this past weekend, the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) called for a landslide in the November 4th elections to defeat John McCain and strengthening the Democratic Party majorities in Congress.
Needed: One Landslide on November 4th
Sam Webb, the CPUSA's national chair, delivered the main political report in which he argued that voters have confounded pundits and political predicters and have set the stage for a political victory in November for the people's movement. Democratic primaries signal a huge upsurge with record-breaking turnout and enthusiasm. "The high octane of this upsurge is simply breathtaking," he said.
With the undiminished role of the labor-led people's movement, Webb predicted the outcome could bring enormous change that puts people's need before warmaking, sleaze and policies that put profits before peoples need. Such an outcome is possible regardless of whether or not Clinton or Obama wins, he stated.
The Democratic campaigns and the possibility for change have eroded disillusionment and apathy. The main dilemma of the left is to not be left behind in this upsurge, he said. If we are not engaged in this struggle to advance the people's movement, we will be left behind.
Independent involvement is part of the upsurge, and people are inspired by the possibility that this election will result in real changes and improvements in their daily lives.
Webb talked about the fact that the nature of the support for the both candidates shows that working-class voters will vote for a woman and an African American candidate. Neither would have been swept to the place they are now with support from either women or Black voters alone.
To say that Clinton has garnered the vast majority of the working-class vote is simply wrong, he said. Black voters are overwhelming working class. The working class has divided its vote between the two. Trade union voters have given a slight edge to Clinton, but Obama has polled well and has won important union endorsements.
On the issue of demographics, "we should stay away form easy and static explanations," he said.
Obama's candidacy is unique in all of this excitement. It is transformational and new. It has brought new forces into the process and built new organizational forms.
"What makes it different is that it has the feel of a movement," Webb said. Obama speaks to people's desires and inspires them. "He is a fresh voice on the political scene. His courage and astuteness are obvious," Webb said.
His desire to overcome racial and religious and national and other divisions "strikes a deeply responsive chord far and wide."
For her part, Clinton would likely govern to the left of her husband, and she would be a formidable opponent for McCain, Webb asserted.
We have a chance to sweep the Republicans from power in a landslide. "It is an altogether new page in American politics," Webb said.
Webb went on to discuss the deepening economic and financial crisis. He linked Republican policies of the last 30 years and the ongoing decline of US capitalism and imperialism. What is needed to counter this and heal the country is a broad and ambitious program off housing relief, urban investment, environmental clean up and more, Webb insisted.
A favorable outcome of this election will give working people power to prevent capitalists from shifting the burden of this recession onto the backs of workers.
...
The rhetoric of these Communists and the Democrats is indistinguishable: from anthropogenic global warming to maundering on against our involvement in Iraq to such sentiments as "All peace minded people should unify and defeat McCain and strengthen Democratic majorities in Congress", the political differences in the Democrats and the CPUSA have shrunk to virtually nil.
Who’s fault is that? If you could be specific?
Democratic state Sen. Alan Lowenthal is proposing legislation calling for California to drop Cold War-era laws aimed at penalizing individuals who join the Communist Party, saying the provisions are outdated and "unconstitutional."
Lowenthal's measure goes before the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday. It would repeal statutes that allow teachers and other public employees to be fired from their jobs if they are communists.
The courts have long declared such provisions unconstitutional and the legislation seeks only to protect peoples First Amendment rights, Lowenthal told FOXNews.com in an interview Monday. He said membership alone in any party should not cause an individual to lose his or her job,
As I read it, we could not fire a teacher just because she is a communist, but we could fire her if she starts openly advocating Communism to the students.
It does not open the doors to allow Communists to come in and openly advocate for Communism.
Now excuse me while I go get my helmet and flak jacket.........................INCOMING!!!
But I thought all the liberal letfist were leaving California were ruining all the other states? I hear this daily, here and elsewhere.
Which is it?
The silence is deafing
Er...Deafening
Anyone who has tried to reach out to socialists and communists in the spirit of “bipartisanship and cultural diversity”.

Given the Democrate Party’s control of education this sounds rather redundant.
Too old to be up on what California does, but; I needed a plumber two days ago. He said he left CA. for Nashville due to the cost of living.
I noted you failed to address my question.
I thought all the liberal leaving California were ruining all the other states? I hear this daily, here and elsewhere. Which is it?
I live in CA and last week went to the local grocery store to buy a deli sandwich. Below the deli counter were several brands of soft drink to buy.....I was shocked to find that one of them was called “Leninade.” It had a red label and a hammer and sickle above it. On the top edge it said “Get Hammered and Sickled” and at the bottom edge it said “A taste worth waiting in line for.” On the side of the label it said “Drink Comrade Drink! Its this or the Gulag.”
> Anyone who has tried to reach out to socialists and communists in the spirit of bipartisanship and cultural diversity.
I gave my answer. Take it or leave it.
Hmmm, it seems you didn't answer the above question all all.
Quit dancing around the question, and give it a shot.
They have been teaching in the open for many years. They just sign the oath and then proceed to ignore it.
Anyhoo ... I thought the loyalty oath stuff was rationalized on the basis that the CP - USA was simply an arm of the Russian government. The CP - USA was heavily financed by the Russians, was used as a “filter” for recruiting spies and passing along the fruits of espionage. Also, its leadership was vetted and approved by the Russians. CP USA policy was dictated by Moscow (e.g., the “peace pact” between Hitler and Stalin, etc. etc.) Hence, it was argued, American communists were in fact agents of a hostile foreign power and their activities could be proscribed on that basis (never mind that once spies were identified they were typically asked to leave the party and go “underground” in order to hide their true activities).
So, I wonder if any of the above is still true? Is the CP USA still supported financially by a foreign government or governments?
Thank you. Took the words out of my mouth, and expressed the point better than I would’ve.
