We live in a democracy where the majority makes the rules. Since smokers are outnumbered at least two to one by non-smokers, you will just have to suck it up. That’s the reality of it

Wrong. There’s such a thing as working things out where just about everyone will be happy. You just made our point.

And if two out of three people on your block are cannibals and decide they are having you over for dinner?

This is a Republic, not a democracy, and the purpose of the Constitituion, among a host of other laws was to protect the rights of the minority from the ravages of the mob.

This is not a democracy (it’s a republic), and this is not Democratic Underground (it’s FreeRepublic).

And no, I’m not voting for the liberal mentioned in your tagline.

Like I said, you better go back and re-read that Constitution you swore to protect. Why would you volunteer to give your life for something you so clearly lack any understanding about? You think a uniform gets you chicks?

Private property, individual liberty and the persuit of happiness are paramount to Freedom. Anything less is not acceptable to anyone that believes man was meant to be free. Your responses on this thread clearly shows you to be an enemy of freedom, not a defender of freedom.

That's the problem.

We're supposed to be living in a representative republic where our elected representatives filter all this kind of B.S.

We do not live in a Democracy. However I do believe that smoking bans in restaurants are a good thing. Provided they apply to: Restaurants with a certain seating capacity, restaurants that are part of publicly owned larger chain restaurants, ( and exception should be made for mom & pop businesses) allow alternate means like filtration systems to clear smoke, permit outside smoking areas, permit inside smoking areas if smoke is filtered as mentioned.
