The third is just to tell the greens to take a flying leap and drill away everywhere. But it lacks the poetry of the others.
The second is to have the USN announce slight "carrying charges" for every oil tanker that wants to transit any sea without meeting an SSN.
The third and my personal favorite, in the turnabout as fair play category, is for the US to sit down with a few other countries like Poland, Ukraine, Brazil, Canada and Australia, and organize a food exporters collective. Announce unilateral price hikes of 800% on all forms of food. Also announce that not a single grain will be donated to anybody for any reason, humanity be damned. If the world wants to eat, it can pay our oil import bill for the last 10 years the day after tomorrow. If they don't like it, they can starve, or see how their oil tastes on toast.
The third is my favorite.
Too bad. That would take strong leadership, willing to send a message. We don’t have that kind of leadership.
They’ll keep raising the price of fuel, causing all other prices to rise as they are now, causing all kinds of economic hardship across the board.
Lets look at who’s making money off this. The oil industry, the A-rabs, the Feds, and local state governments in the form of taxes. They know as well as I do, if this keeps up, even many of the people renting wont be able to pay their rents, pay their bills. People will stop buying all kinds of crap, hurting most everyone economically, tourism, restaurants and big ticket items will only be afforded to the well off.
I think they want to see how much they can squeeze out of everyone, until the whole game totally collapses, and if prices continue upward, it will.
