Barack Hussein Obama on selecting Supreme Court Justices
MSNBC ^ | Carrie Dann

Posted on 04/04/2008 3:57:51 PM PDT by Jeff Head

"We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges." - Barack Hussein Obama, To Planned Parenthood, July 17, 2007

Obama hinted that the court's recent decision in Gonzales v. Carhart -- which upheld a ban on partial-birth abortion -- was part of "a concerted effort to steadily roll back" access to abortions. And he ridiculed Justice Anthony Kennedy, who wrote that case's majority opinion.

It is clear that with Obama, the progress made over the last 30 years on the Supreme Court towards overturning Roe v. Wade, and away from liberal activism, would suffer a setback that would take another 30 years to recoup.

We don’t want Obama making 2 or 3 lifetime appointments to the SC. That’s one reason I’ll be a broken glass McCain voter this fall. (And don’t anyone try to tell me McCain would make the same kinds of picks as Obama.)

This is what you get if you stay home on election day or vote for a third party candidate. As a bonus you get a commander-in-chief who will betray our young men and women in uniform.

Exaclty. There owuld be no standard except what the liberal judge wanted it to be.

The liberal judges have been doing this by stealth anyway, but with this President, it would be out in the open and the death of the constitutional function of the court.

His statements are absolutely pathetic, especially coming from someone with a legal education.

This A-wipe will continue the mass murder of unborn people. How many of these unborn people would become great little liberals? Brain surgeons? Judges? Healers? Scientists? Presidents?

I realize abortion is an important issue but it goes way beyond that. Obama's view of the courts is radical and irresponsible. He has drunk the kool aid of a movement known as legal nihilism, in which the left teaches that law and legal precedent hold no value, they are just tools to political ends. The law has been used for generations to screw the people and now the courts will be turned into a tool of the left wing revolution.

God help us.

Exactly.

And when you add to that Obama's intent to make the sacrifice of so much honorable American blood in defeating Al Quida in Iraq and the progress towards a republican based nation in their own backyard, you have the makings of an unbelievable disaster.

Equal to or worse than Jimmy Carter internationally, and equal to or worse than the Toon domestically (and internationally) all at once.

Duh.

I doubt that Obama would let a minor point like lack of knowledge of Constitutional Law get in the way of his judicial picks.

>>(And don’t anyone try to tell me McCain would make the same kinds of picks as Obama.)<<

Why not? It’s a valid question.

McCain cozies up to Dems whenever it’s convenient for him to do so. I have no assurance that he wouldn’t make the same sort of picks as Hillobama.

And mind you, Obama believes every word of this stuff. He is a disaster.

Yes they are...except he therefore knows exactly what he is saying and what he is doing. His intent, IMHO, is clear...to destroy the underlying, fundamental institutions of our Republic.

After all, the Constitution is just a piece of paper written by privileged White men. Think I have a chance at at Court vacancy???

Get used to hearing this and similar rants by people who really, really don't like America.

What does any of this have to do with the law? Justice is to be applied by identity? Harvard Law.
