My father was a perfect example of a southerner- he had many minorities as close friends, and married my mother who was a Cherokee. Yet he spoke like he was the worst racist you ever heard. We use to refer to him as Archie Bunker when he got carried away. It is humorous to see the southern attitude in action, you really do have to judge them by their actions and not their words.
It’s not the color, it’s the attitude.
