I remember reading a Civil War book about the Southern soldiers being appalled at the way the Yankees treated blacks.

No doubt. The Union soldiers treated them like real people.

I'm with you. It's tragic. I almost shake with anger at the Democrats for the way they've ruined race relations in this country and the way they've flat out undermined black people. Back in the day, they were literal racists. Now they keep blacks screwed up and off-balance with their grievance mongering and their pandering and their lies. It just kills me. One thing we do have to look forward to though, and the Democrats have set themselves up for this, is that whenever black people come around and realize what the real story is, it's going to be the end of the Democrat party. When the spell is broken and blacks quit voting as a 90% block, the Democrats will be finished.

There were half a million Freemen/Freedmen in the South, not the whole US.

Look into the history of “Lee’s Campaigns of 1864” also the history of the Tennesse Light Infantry and the Alabama 3d.

I shouldn't have said that it was a "lie," but I never said that it was your "lie."

It could have been someone else's claim that you were repeating or an honest mistake.

But look, your claim that there were more freedmen than slaves in the US was wrong.

So you come back and say that those freedmen were in the South.

Is that going to make your claim true?

In fact, in 1860, Maryland had the largest free Black population, followed by Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and North Carolina.

According to the census, Connecticut had more free Black people than Florida or Mississippi or Arkansas or Texas.

Are you sure that those were Confederate units? There were Black and White Union regiments from those states.
