When this story first came out, my brother sent me an email quoting Churchill on how nothing focuses like the mind like getting shot at. My brother hadn’t been to war, but he said that he was out hunting once when some idiot fired right over his head and he heard the bullet whiz by his ear from just a couple of feet away. He said that was just one bullet over 20 years ago, yet he can recall every detail of that moment as if it just happened. Yet Hillary simply misremembered a corkscrew landing and dodging sniper fire. Eighteen years ago a friend and I were on an airplane about an hour from landing at Heathrow airport in London. All of a sudden the plane started pitching and we dropped in altitude. We barely even had time to fasten our seatbelts beforehand. That was 18 years ago, and I still remember every second of what happened, because we were afraid we were going to go down.
I can see forgetting or misremembering minor stuff, but something like plane turbulence, or being under sniper fire - no freekin’ way!
