Exactly. She wanted to play a role beyond Victim #4 in a potential school shooting.

Me too! When I began to read the story I was thinking that she had it there to protect the class in case of a shooting. Maybe she read about Virginia Tech and others and thought,"Not in my classroom!"

Her big mistake was leaving the gun where her kids could easily find it, and that was a capital letter BIG mistake. If she's that dumb and/or careless maybe she shouldn't be carrying a gun anywhere. She should have kept it concealed in a large, closed handbag and then kept the handbag always where she could see it at all times.
I know from experience that it isn't easy to carry concealed in a lot of situations, but by using some imagination and trial and error experimenting you can usually come up with a way
