Candidate Clinton to Richardson: 'Barack Obama Can't Win'
ABC News ^ | 4/2/2008 | George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 04/02/2008 10:24:25 PM PDT by tatown

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor's endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."

Richardson, who served in President Clinton's cabinet, disagreed.

At a rally in Oregon, standing next to Obama, Richardson insisted, "My great affection and admiration for Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton will never waver." But he added, "It is time, however, for Democrats to stop fighting among ourselves and to prepare for the tough fight we will face against John McCain in the fall."

Now if we can just make sure Juan McLame can’t win, we’d be in fat city.

I can’t wait to see Hillary!’s speech at the convention, leading the delegates in chanting: “He Can’t Win! He Can’t Win! He Can’t Win!”

In this case, Hillary is right. Welcome to Pres. McCain and the New Democrat Party.

Winning is all that matters to her....there is no right, no wrong, only winning.

From a post I saw on the ABC blog:
Sure! She was even prepared to defend the interests of Walmart and other companies against the whining of unions and women asking for part-time work.
And YET better, she was prepared to defend a rapist by blaiming his 12-years old victim, attacking the credibility of the girl on the basis of how many men she fantasized about...
Hooray for Hillary, your all time servant!

"Candidate Clinton to Richardson: 'Barack Obama Can't Win'"

She's right. Both parties and their richest constituents have been pandering to ex-wives and mothers-in-law for decades. So yes, America's ex-wife and mother-in-law would probably have a better chance at it than Obama. Feminism/family-hating trumps all.

Photobucket lol...exactly. Obama would do better than Hillary in an election, though he has some flaws too.

That conjures up images of the last scene in "The Manchurian Candidate."

Hillary is right this time. Obama can’t win outside of the rich white university liberal towns and the black ghettos. He can’t overcome his past and win with the white middle class.

I am not so sure of that. The BHO "baby as a punishment" is getting a lot of play in the nonpolitical/lifestyle/hobby sites I frequent. If the posters there are any indication, everything bad about BHO is being ignored by people who lean, even if only slightly, towards the Democratic party and/or leftward. They "know" that anything negative about his childhood in Indonesia, his ties to islam, his ties to pro reparations activists, his viciously racist pastor, etc etc, are all just 'proof' that the US media has a rightwing bias (I kid you not). They discount everything negative that's been reported. (Oh, and that "baby as punishment" quote that's been getting such heavy play here, with so many posters insisting that that'll reflect negatively on BHO? This just proves the hypocrisy of 'right to lifers', because for years 'right to lifers' have said that getting pregnant is the punishment "sluts" have to suffer for "hopping into bed", so how can they then turn around and complain if someone else agrees babies are a punishment?

I think that either HRC or BHO will do a lot better in the popular vote than we can imagine : Democratic voters will hold their noses and vote for who they believe is the marginally better, just as many Republican voters will. The question of whether the independent voters will turn to McCain is up in the air, but to judge from what I've seen at the non political sites I frequent, the negative stuff reported here on BHO will not have as much impact as many here believe.
