One thing Israel should do is to make clear NOW what the consequences would be if Hezbollah attacks again (and Syria joins in).
1) Interim calls for a cease fire will not be honored. If conflict starts, it will not end until Israel has obtained its objectives.
2) New conflict will underscore the need for Israel to occupy new buffer lands to ensure its future security.
3) This will not be tit-for-tat warfare. From the get-go, Israel will respond with overwhelming force.
4) Civilian populations are forewarned that Hezbollah’s tactics of dressing in civilian clothes and attacking from residences puts the non-militant population at extreme risk. Civilians should leave immediately when conflict resumes. If they stay, they will be presumed to be enemy combatants.
5) Tell the U.N. right now that their interference will not be welcome. The U.N. charter gives nations the right to defend themselves. If attacked, Israel will continue the fight until its sworn enemies are wiped out beyond any ability to threaten her again. It will not allow the U.N. to pull Hezbollah out of the fire it re-ignited.
That’s a start, but you get my drift. Ohmert could possibly avoid war if he would make it clear how strongly he intends to respond.
Ohmert?... Respond?... You jest.
Come on, are you series?...this is olmerd we are talking about..a f*ckn p*ssy...he is the reason why Israel has to go through this again...this guy should have been eliminated last year...
what a corrupt ^&%%^*^%*^& .... (words are not enough)
