Thanks to an extended comment deadline, almost three weeks remain for people to let their feelings be known about the Trans-Texas Corridor.
The most recent study of the proposal, which includes a stretch in Fort Bend County, must be approved by the federal government for the Texas Department of Transportation to proceed with planning and, eventually, construction.
TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration have extended their formal comment period through April 18. During this time, individuals are encouraged to submit written comments on either the project itself or what is called the Draft Environmental Impact Study (DEIS), which is a document that contains assessments on the impact of the corridor to the state's environment.
A public hearing on the project, held in Rosenberg in February, yielded no positive comments for the section of TTC known as TTC-69. State officials are hoping as part of this proposal to widen U.S. 59, which would become Interstate 69, and also to consider adjoining rail lines and utility rights-of-way.
Fort Bend County would be affected by what is called a connector corridor, which is a stretch of the TTC designed to connect its main artery to Fort Bend, area ports and Houston.
TxDOT and Gov. Rick Perry propose that the project be almost entirely financed by a private company, which would charge tolls and other usage fees. The project has generated much protest from diverse political groups, but so far neither TxDOT nor Perry is backing down from the effort.

Trans-Texas Corridor PING!
A Waco TV station reported last night that TXDOT’s district administrator said the plan to widen the 94 miles of I-35 between Hillsboro and Salado will probably be abandoned because of lack of funds. It seems the strategy for the state is to shut down all future building, have traffic grind to a halt, and then the peons will have to accept the Spanish toll road.
With the price of oil and gas rising to new highs every day, Texas government should be flush with cash. Texas taxpayers should be asking where the money is going, if it’s not going into building new non-toll roads.
The State and the Fed's are hell bent on shoving this corridor down our throats.
Invite us to stand with you...and we will come.

Reads as a typical Political condescentive ruse to me.
I call BS as I believe TDOT has it (TTC) already in the starting blocks no matter what the people of Texas want.

How many times do they need to here the word "NO?"
