Ahern has told reporters outside his government office he will step down May 6. He has been Ireland's leader for 11 years, but his hold on power has steadily weakened since investigators alleged he secretly received cash payments from businessmen in the 1990s.

Investigators say they have uncovered more than $150,000 in undocumented cash deposits to Ahern.

The Whatever-He-Calls-Himself - How can they use so many vowels, but still leave no idea of the pronunciation? It’s worse than French! - could move here and run for governor. Our voters love corrupt socialists.

I spent a fair bit of time trying to learn Irish (not real practical, I realize) and the only thing I'm really sure of is that few Irish words are spelled like they are pronounced.

Example: Good night is Oiche mhaith which looks to me like ouch math. It's pronounced more like eehah wah.

Sounds cool anyway. :-D
