My guess that the your response to this story should’ve been to buy a calendar.

Poorly done spoof. The name Oldsmobile is a Trademark, not a copyright. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chrysler’s new owners would sell the name Plymouth.

To elaborate, I should say that GM would never let itself drive [pun intended] a reputable brand into the ground without retaining its rights to the name.

Toyota took note of the rapid failure of the Volkswagen Phaeton and does not wish to find itself in the same situation.
Just for the record the boys at "Top Gear" BBC, said the Phaeton was just about as perfect as a car can get, and they are not easy reviewers....

Mechanics wanted $500+ to change the sparkplugs in my Aurora. I asked why and they told me they had to take the engine off its mounts to do it.
then I sold it and ran

If GM can sell a few more cars, this might end up being a good quarter! I’m surprised Toyota didn’t go for American Motors instead :)

Since the Toyota logo has always been a thinly disguised imitation of the Oldsmobile logo, I suspect that this has been GM’s plan all along.
Toyota is just the japanese branch of GM anyway.

Sounds like a Dodge Ram I had several years ago. (OK, more like 8 years ago..) Had a problem where I needed oil pumps replaced often, dealer told me after the third one that I needed to have my engine replaced, surprise, surprise, it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. $8K minimum.
Took it down the road to a different dealer, they gave me full trade in value. They said that it was a common issue that the compression was set to high and was a simple fix.. found out later (from former mechanic) the Dodge dealer knew full well it didn’t need a new engine, they just were trying to give as little as possible for the trade value and get me (and others) into new vehicles..
