I will say this. I've noticed a theme of resentment that is present, not only in his books, but in dialogues with people that knew him...and Islam and resentment can make for a very dangerous mixture.
Since we can at least agree that he isn't practicing Islam overtly, the question isn't whether he is or is not Muslim. The question is, to what extent does his Madrassa, and paternal experiences, influence his reason and judgement, which it must at some level, and that would be true of anyone. Only a fool or idiot (and I mean that literally)would think otherwise.
