Another promising life snuffed out by street thugs. And for what? A little bit of money? A car that they torched a few moments later? These criminals never get away with it. They're almost always apprehended within a few days --if not hours. Don't they even realize that if they had just taken the money they'd be a pretty low priority for the cops. By killing someone, they bring a manhunt on themselves.

Excellent point, and one I hope is spread far and wide. My niece is a freshman at UNC, and we were talking about the recent murder there. She said Durham is full of gangs. I think it is an eye-opener for her, a very sad and scary one.
