With all due respect, the report from the examiner is BS. There is a lot sloppy reporting coming from the American media and the reporting about Africa extremely bad.
First, there are ethnic Somalis in Kenya. Second, the dress you claimed was traditional Kenyan garb was Masai dress. The Masais are every bit a minority in Kenya as the Somalis.
There is a very strong Arabic/Muslim influence on the east African coast. The dominant language on the East African coast is Swahili (a hybrid of local African languages and Arabic). Many former muslims in East Africa are now Christians, but one cannot deny a thousand year history of contact with the Arabs.
Obama did not attend a Madrassa in Indonesia. He went to a normal Indonesian school. I went to school using the old British colonial system (similar to that used in Indonesia, I suspect). In predominantly Christian areas, Bible Knowledge is taught while in predominantly Muslim areas, Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) is taught. It is possible that Obama like ALL other kids must have learnt IRK.
Now IRK is an inconsequential part of the syllabus (usually one hour per week).
The problem with most Americans is that you have lived in a predominantly Christian country and have no experience of dealing with other religious experiences or cultures.
Africa has a thousand year history with Islam. If you are from anywhere near the East Coast of Africa or a few hundred miles from the Sahara you definitely will not be far some form of Islamic heritage/history. Christians in parts of Africa go by names such as Ayuba (Job), Istifanus (Stephen), Isiaku (Isaac), Ibrahim (Abraham), Bitrus (Peter), Boulos (Paul), Yohanna (John), Isa/Yisa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), Yakubu (Jacob), Dauda/Daoud (David). They are fiercely Christian but their names show some muslim heritage.
Kenya is on the East Coast of Africa, so virtually all Kenyans have some historically contact with Arabs/Islam.
Now if you want to do something useful, read Jeremiah Wrights sermons. You are merely wasting time attacking his African/Indonesian heritage. Rev. Wrights sermons are a gold mine (if you understand what I mean).
You completely zap your credibility with that statement. Even Obama doesn't deny that he attended a Muslim school in Indonesia. But your repeated assertion that you know Kenya and no one else should talk about it turns around now. You aren't from Indonesia so you don't know squat about that. Right?
