Arrington said he thought his message might have more power if it was delivered to a blacks-only audience.
what kind of hell would erupt if a white judge wanted to talk to a WHITES-ONLY audience in a courtroom ? this politically correct double standard crap has to stop. maybe obama needs to make another speech.

If he wasn’t an idiot he would have said he wanted to talk to the young men without any attorneys and left race out of it.
But that would be unlike him.

"I came out and saw the defendants, about 99.9 percent Afro-Americans, and some point time I excused some of the lawyers, most of them white, and said to the young people in here 'What in the world are you doing with your lives,'" he told WSB-TV Channel 2 reporter JaQuitta Williams. Actually, his explanation makes perfect sense to me. I support what he did. That's probably the first dressing-down most of those men have received in their lives.

this judge is right on target...it is ironic how pc crap has just gotten so out of control you can’t even do something good anymore.
To: gondramB
Unless the good judge is willing to adopt all those young men as step children, there is really nothing he can do to change their fate.

“I didn’t want them to think I was talking down to them; trying to embarrass them or insult them; be derogatory towards them and I was just saying ‘Please get yourself together’”
This judge is a piece of garbage.
Instead of pleading with criminals he needs to lock their As@#$ up for as long as the law allows.
I’m getting sick of this!

I agree. He’s upset with his race. Liberalism is a basis for this form of slavery.

saw the defendants, about 99.9 percent Afro-Americans,So there were 1,000 defendants in the room, and one was a non-black?

Someone needs to have said this. If these kids had FATHERS, it wouldn’t have to be a judge.

I’m with you. So what he sent the whites or whomever out...he was trying to make a point to the defendants, some of which have probably never had any male authority figure talk to them like that. I hope he made an impression on one or more of them.

If he walks like a Racist, talks like a Racist, acts like a Racist THEN regardless of his skin tone, he is a
Racist

I think his intentions are good, but it still makes him seem color oriented... Because why don’t whites and asians deserve the same talk about get yourself together? Don’t they merit the same concern? I like the judge giving a talk like this, but everyone deserves it regardless of color.

When I was practicing law, courts were open to the public, and remained so, except in statutorily provided instances [child rape victim, unless closed circuit TV could be used], undercover cops still working undercover [and that required a hearing], or upon motion [in VERY limited circumstances] by counsel, with both sides heard [subject to Court action by the media if the courtroom was sealed].
I can't remember more than three or four times in 26 years that happened. I never heard of a case, or saw one where the judge, sua sponte] sealed the courtroom himself.

If he wasnt an idiot he would have said he wanted to talk to the young men without any attorneys and left race out of it. Actually, legally, that's going to be far, far worse for him.

I agree with that sentiment. "You do what ya gotta".
May have had a bit more of an impact with the whole "just us guys here".

If he got through to one of them, then I think he did the right thing. However, I doubt that he made a dent.
