Attended a fundraiser immediately thereafter at a private home, about 120 people, and Bush spoke for about 35 min. He was fantastic. Off the cuff, funny, dead honest about himself and others, it's amazing that he can't "package" that when he's in big "formal" public forums. He's a different guy. He got huge applause on WoT and taxes and a couple of other things, then mentioned immigration and you could hear the crickets. It was funny. He smiled and one guy off to the side had half-hearted applause, and he said, "Thanks. At least one of you gets it." Then added, "seriously, I know this is a very passionate question . . . ." and went on to defend his record.

Most didn't buy it, but his honesty and passion on the other issues demonstrated that this guy is a LEADER and even though I disagreed with him on a couple of things, I'd follow him anywhere, because overall I trust his judgment.

People are going to SO MISS HIM in about 12 months.

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like President Bush is like most people (like myself and others): they're more comfortable ("themselves") when they're in a more "relaxed situation" or among "like-minded people".

Love him or dislike him on various issues -- President Bush's moral leadership (as you correctly said) will be missed. I concur with your assessment.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the President. How awesome to be in such an intimate setting, 120 people, to hear and observe this wonderful man.

It is also good to hear that those in attendence did not pander to him in regard to immigration. There is far more to that issue than meets the eye.

and even though I disagreed with him on a couple of things, I'd follow him anywhere, because overall I trust his judgment.

I couldn't agree with you more!
