The bio’s of most of our senior military and naval leaders reads like a who’s who of American success and personal achievement.

They all do it for love of troops and country, most never make lots of money (Imagine the CEO of a 20-30K person company earning less than $130k per year, no stock options and a promise of 75% max of last 3 years average salary if you survive for 30 years?). And most never seek out fame or fortune afterwards as well, with a few noted exceptions.

I am proud to have served with many of them over my career, and would not wish politics on any, it is beneath them.

Reminded me of my favorite Saturday Night Live of recent years — the one with Peyton Manning. It was the skit about the one ups-manship at a party. Hillary would be perfect for the role.

I agree, and thank you for your service.

I’m in the process of joining the Army National Guard right now and look forward to spending the summer at Ft. Benning.

Good for you, you’ll be better for it. Anyway it works out.

Thanks for stepping up and taking the place of one of us cold war-OIF types who are now passing the guidon....

I spent the spring/early summer of ‘83 at Ft Benning, Sandhill, went back for Ranger, Airborne, OCS and a few other courses over the years.

God Bless
